Polk Elementary School is a wonderful school. My son loves the school, and the teachers.

Polk elementary is an amazing school with exceptional and caring teachers including Mrs. Weiss and Mrs. Kilker. I've had two children go through the school with positive experiences and results, and look forward to registering our daughter for the upcoming Kindergarten school year

Exceptional teachers, stuff, principal and PTO board as well. Excellent learning environment. I truly hope it will remain open for many more years.

Exceptional school. Teachers are able and willing to differentiate instruction, keep parents informed, and make an effort to truly know the strengths and weaknesses of each child. Excellent learning environment.

My daughters go to Polk, they are in 1st and 3rd grade. I think the school and the teachers are great. The school has been quick to respond to the special needs of my 3rd grader and give her the extra help she needs to succeed. I think Polk is a great school with great teachers!

My son attended Polk Elementary from 1st grade to 4th grade and we were very pleased . He has some special needs and those needs were addressed immediately and we were always updated with his progress. The staff was exceptional . My son would give anything to be back at Polk.

Both my sons have attended Polk and we've been very pleased with the instruction they've received. My older son has a GIEP and his needs have been met, and the necessary accomodations made to allow him to work at his own accelerated pace. My younger son has a dual diagnosis -- he's on the autism spectrum, and he's got a GIEP. He's had accomodations made in both areas. Polk has an exceptional teaching stuff.

This school is fine if you have a 'normal' child. If you have a child who has problems and needs services you will have to pull teeth to get them to give them. Speech therapy, reading help, and a son with adhd has kept me fighting the school and repeated efforts to get things done.

I have a son who has gone to Polk since Kindergarten. It is a really nice school, Great Teachers, Great Principal the type of Principal that is always involved in the school functions! I will say though that being this is 1 of the 'smaller' Elem. Schools I wouldnt say that they neccessarily have more time with the students to help them with their school work. Its the kind of school that if your child knows their 'stuff' they will beable to do well in this school. This school is now holding 4th graders.

This school currently goes up to grade 4. It doesn't have sport activities but paperwork comes home for this type of activity should you want to sign your children up. The school has all types of programs to help all types of childrens needs. My son loves the school, and the teachers. He gets help in areas needed. You can't ask for a better school.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing, science and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
