As a parent of two alumni, one of whom recently graduated, I can recommend the high school based on personal experience. The middle school years at all schools, public or private, can be difficult because early adolescence is a difficult developmental stage of life. Lancaster Mennonite teachers show a lot of grace and mercy while helping young people on the right path. Many students who were troublesome during early adolescence have been helped to mature and are now success stories. The school truly fulfills its mission of "transforming lives," especially with students others would give up on. I feel good about that.

I have been a student at Lancaster Campus for over 3 years now and before that I was at Kraybill Campus. I have thoroughly enjoyed the educational experience here. The strong academics and caring, educated, teachers have helped me prepare for my future at a 4 year university. I have been able to challenge myself academically all the while growing in my spiritual walk with Christ.

It is exciting to see the positive learning that happens everyday at Lancaster Mennonite School. It is a special place that partners with families and trains children and youth in the ways of God. Outstanding teachers and wonderful students in a caring school community.

As a current parent at LMS, I have to say that there is no other school -- anywhere -- where I would rather have my son enrolled! This school is a wonderful place of opportunity: academic excellence, strong co-curriculars; caring and dedicated teachers; community and freindships. My son has excellent role models among faculty and among his peers and friends. This school is a true community of learners. I love Lancaster Mennonite School and would highly recommend it!!

Many negatives to out weigh the positives. Beautiful campus, new textbooks and kind teachers, however; academic, spiritual and safety concerns caused us to remove our honor roll student who is now catching up as a result of this school. Teachers try too hard to be friends and not mentors and leaders which causes the students to run the classroom. Discipline and natural consequences for vandalizing or bullying is not there. Homework is super light or non-existent and good students are leaving as a result of a low academic/behavior admission standards from incoming students. We found there's no standard of behavior that's enforced. Lack of parent accountability/involvement could also be a contributing factor. Regardless ,this experience saddened us. This must be a recent change because this school was highly reccomended from former graduates. This was a great school - but it has changed.

I've had 4 children go through LMS and they each had a wonderful experience. It wasn't always easy because kids will be kids, so sometimes relationship building was hard, but it would be like that any where. The difference at LMS is that teachers, parents, alumni, and administration are keeping the school and the students in their prayers. Also, the teachers and administration are guided by God in how they teach and discipline. The students are learning academics from a christian perspective. Even though temptation and sin is everywhere, at LMS to live a moral life is the norm, not the exception.

Wonderful school with a great learning enviroment. Teachers are caring and want to see students excel. You are not just a number at LMS but a person that matters. The students can feel that. Our family loved being a part of LMS 'community' !

My daughter was miserable at this school. I placed her at LMS in hopes of avoiding the roughness of the city junior highs. What we experienced here was equal to what goes on in the local school district! Very disappointed.

Students are encouraged to think globally and individually. The teachers are very dedicated to helping students succeed both scholastically and socially. Kids who graduate from LMHS are well prepared for college, trade school or whatever further education they choose.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
