My daughter's coat was stolen and then blackmailed for money to get it back "or the coat would be burned". This was her first day of school, a transfer in during the month of October. The administration made her partial responsible because she did not "lock" her coat up. This was in 1993. It did not take long to screen out the children with behavior isues. Coming from a private school with 15 per class she was properly tracked and the rest of the year was smooth sailing. Teachers took an interest in all of her great accomplishments, since she was a professional musician by the 9Th grade. Their music program still is the best in the state.
It definitely had its problems. A few of the students there can be rather mean at times. The staff does little to take care of this, and their choice of actions at times are questionable at best. As far as the social aspects of the school go, it probably fits the paradigm of a public school perfectly. Most of the more popular kids were somewhat snobby, and most of the kids that weren't popular became your typical troubled kids who would say inappropriate, violent things and get into trouble a lot. There were definitely cliques, and the interactions both within and between these groups are something you could expect to see on Mean Girls or another such movie. Still, the classes were fun and educational. The teachers did try to make it so, and they worked with students. Not the best I've been to; not the worst.
Its got a great building thats really easy to navigate through. Most kids really dont find there 'place' until ninth grade and there arent really too many bullying issues but the kids who are minorities may face some. The teachers are all very helpful and some of the really do put in the extra effort while others pick favorites. And there are a lot of extra curricular activities and its really easy to start one too; like a club. In ninth grade we students really get to enjoy ourselves alot! but the down side is that at times you will find yourself hating the school for all the little things.
very good school. both of my children have gone there.
child only enrolled in this school for 4 months. She likes everything...food, teachers, extra-curric's, etc...... also has lots of class options available.
I think that this school is very good. I was very involved in school and got straight A's this year. But I didn't get my acheivement buttons for my plaque. I think the food isn't that good either but I guess that is in a lot of the schools too. Overall the education is very good, and the teachers did very well in teaching me things for the last 2 years that I've been at this school.
