LHS keeps their integrity and just turned into a minority school that is improving year by year.
I love my building, my teachers, and the people. We are poorly thought of because the past of our district but we are better. If you think there are tons of drug problems in our school well compared to surrounding schools that are 'better' we have low drug problems.
I am a current student at LHS, and I think the school is freaking awesome. We don't get enough credit for anything we do, everyone looks at the bad, not the good. Our music department completely outshines pretty much half of Pennsylvania. Our academics are improving, and if the state would stop taking away our money, we would be doing even better.
Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities, receive academic support, and are overall thoughtful, caring kids. The teachers work hard to teach 'beyond the test' giving students a global view of education. Community support is increasing.
I graduated from LHS a few years back and loved it there. However I have children that attended and graduated from there as well and I can honestly say that 1 of them had the worst experience. He has a slight learning disability and now one would hep us/them out. I had to push for testing and when we finally got it I felt that it was to late to make any change for him. There was no guidance. Although loving the principal at LHS . . . . .the tolerance for students picking on other students was way to high. There is no reason a child should have to attend a school and be totally subjected to this harassment.
I am indeed not a parent but a student attending Lebanon High and I have indeed witnessed the daily acts of both the teaching staff and my classmates. Both of these groups have hospitality as well as great humility which in school is very welcomed. The teachers care and are very respectable as well freindly, unfortunatly some of my classmates aren't raised to understand how to react to such great care so they tend to ruin certain things and most of the time act like Mercutio in the book of William Shakespeare ' Romeo and Juliet' which I have read in my freshman year. One other thing that I can say bout Lebanon is that the academics are terrific they offer courese for everyone which is indeed great, they also happen to have a great funding for sports and other extracurricular activities. Overall Lebanon in my view is great!!!
I will have to say I am not very impressed with the school district. I have a son who is autistic and after complaing multiple times about some of the the things the kids are doing, it came to the point where my son hated school so much he would hide in the morning so he couldnt go.
Actually I was a student at LHS. This is one of the best schools I ever been in and the teachers are the best.
Teachers are amiable and well versed in their fields. Supplies are limited and some text books are even dated in the 70's. The school is purchasing new text books for this school year (2003-2004).
