Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

The teachers at this school are great but the one principal is terrible at taking sides of students that he knew and there parents. He will not always believe what your kids says because of him knowing the other kid better he believed her cause he was friends with her parents. After all of that he wouldn't believe a word my kid was saying cause he wanted to take the other girls side in the whole fight. Also this school has a ton of bullying here mostly on Facebook and the internet and they try to take it into there own hands when it's happening outside of school. My kid comes home saying she wants to move cause she gets talked bad about her at school and she doesn't like the principal she believe he treats her unfairly. I would not go to this school if i were you.

Last year my son had nothing but issues mostly stemming from bullying by the girls, then he was in trouble when he exploded. We tried to work with the school, had him in counseling, put him on a behavior plan for him to "earn" back privileges, work with him to help him make better choices, etc. He was constantly spinning his wheels, feeling worse and worse about himself and the intense hatred he developed for the principal was very disturbing. There was even an incident where my son claims that the principal called him swear names behind closed doors, of course the principal denied saying "that is absurd." We have decided to send our son to private school for the remainder middle school years and the change (and space the summer provided) has already made a huge and positive difference in his attitude. We also have a daughter who started 5th grade this year and on day 1 the principal managed to single out another child (a kid who was never in trouble before) during a meeting with the new 5th graders. He yelled a this child, demanded he leave the room and go to the office all for forgetting to cover his mouth when he yawned. The kids are now scared SICK to go to school. UGH!

This is my daughters first year in the school and the experience has been amazing. She is so happy and comfortable with the school environment and I am more than satisfied with the programs that are offered to the students. I recommend this school.

This is a wonderful school with great teachers. Some parents are just lazy and they don't keep their kids on track. If your child can follow the rules and do homework, they will excel!

this middle school is excellent. The teacher are fantastic. Thankfully they push the kids to do their best. Detention isn't a problem as long as your child follows the rules.

It's a very good school, contrary to the last comment. You only get detentions for 3 missed homework assignments. I've been to a few different schools and Schuylkill Valley is definitely the best. As a former student of the school I Highly recommend it. I had some of the best moments of my life in that school.

The middle school treats the children like dirt. They are harder on the 6th graders than they are on the high school kids. I have a high schooler now, and am so glad they are out of that middle school! Also, the 6th graders get detention for missed homework, but the 7th -12th graders don't.
