This school is great for kids with disabilites I like that there is a family-friendly enviroment

Posted September 29, 2010

We came to this school in the middle of a school year. I now have two children attending, and it has been a wonderful experience. This school feels like home for us. The staff is amazing and will bend over backwards to help your children succeed. My oldest son struggles with inattentiveness and yet consistently performs at the top of his class with the attention and coping mechanisms he has been given. We are very fortunate to be at Macungie.

My daughter has a learning disability and her fifth grade teacher taught her how to not only cope with it but how to succeed. She has since gone on to middle and high school and using the strategies she was taught she makes honor roll every marking period...this from a child who couldn't stay focused.

Macungie is an awful school. I say this from personal experience. The teachers my child had were very cold and uncaring and the principal wasn't any better.

I could not agree more. This is an awful school for any child that is not 'perfect'. They are VERY harsh and VERY unforgiving towards any child that is different.

I was not prepared for the segragation that my son receieved at Macungie he has special needs and when I spoke with teachers and the Principals about my concerns they were never addressed.

We love this school! I wish this school/school district would offer a foreign language. At young ages it's much easier for children to learn other languages. I also think Macungie Elementary needs a theater so they can give better performances and people can see what they are performing. Other than that - it's a great school with great teachers!

We have been very impressed with Macungie School. The professionalism of the principal and teachers creates a wonderful atmosphere of community and belonging. These kids love their school! We wish the curriculum was more advanced but as this is a public school, the teachers have to teach children from all kinds of backgrounds. With that in mind we think the teachers do an outstanding job. The PTC is very active and provides parents with many opportunities to help the schhol, the teachers, and the children. We are slightly apprehensive about the upcoming retirement of our principal as he was a tremendous positive influence in shaping the character of the school. The unchecked development of our area is also a concern. The schools are becoming overcrowded and new schools must be built. Overall this is a great publc school.

This school is excellent. I have nothing negative to say. It was the best! My 6 yr old daughter learned a TON in one year. The staff members are exceptional. They are well prepared, well organized. There are lots of extracurricular activities offered, and it's located in a safe and beautiful community.

My son has a hard time with his reading. Macungie Elem. has been a miracle for him. The support and caring that he has received from the entire staff has been amazing. I refuse to move out of the area because my son loves his school so much. I could not begin to thank them for all they have done for him.
