I feel Fort Cherry has a lot to offer for its size. It's small enough that each child can participate in any type of activity the school offers, and yet still big enough where they are not missing out on anything. The education for the value (School Tax) makes Fort Cherry one of Northern Washington County's best kept secrets.

My children were new last year, having come from a much larger district in the area. I admit I had some reservations at first but I LOVE the Fort Cherry school district. The children were welcomed with open arms and they have made so many friends already. Academically they have excelled. Fort Cherry is very 'state of the art'. The art and music rooms are awesome and my daughter takes her spelling tests on a laptop!

Although Fort Cherry students have gone on to become NFL head coaches (2), bank presidents, and plastic surgeons, let's not forget the talented carpenters, hair dressers, business owners, and dedicated parents or stay at home moms. Success is not always in the form of a huge pay check.

With a new high school administration in 2006-07, the district is in great hands. There are many new and exciting initiatives to balance an increased academic rigor, while maintaining a child-centered approach. Test scores are higher, discipline is lower, and community satisfaction is outstanding.

Having moved to the district from Virginia, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of teachers and programs. Fort Cherry is a rural and bedroom community with a very diverse socio-economic student population. We chose Fort Cherry over higher rated private schools because the administration and teachers were willing to provide additional work and support to help our children excel. My children have done well on standardized tests (98+%) which indicates to me the opportunities are there for motivated students and parents. At smaller schools, like Fort Cherry, a few individuals can skew published test scores. You will note a wide variance in test scores depending on the year the test was given. I would strongly encourage you to discuss your child s individualized needs with the school before assuming they can not support them. Fort Cherry students have gone on to become NFL head coaches (2), bank presidents, and plastic surgeons.

Fort cherry is one of the worst schools around here. The students don't get taught anything and Fort Cherry is constantly trying to have you kids kicked out of school. Last year 2003-2004 there was over 25 student dropouts. Now doesn't that say something?
