Having taught 5-8th grade science at St Joseph over a time frame of four decades I can say that it was a pleasure to go to school every day. The school atmosphere is one of unconditional acceptance. Discipline combined with love works to let the students know what is "fair" so that students, teachers, administration and staff work for the good of the school.
My daughter loves going to school. The environment is wonderful. The staff does a great job nurturing the whole child in a way that can't be matched in public schools. The academics are appropriately challenging and the use of technology (including smart boards) is very current. I would definitely recommend St. Joseph School.
Proud parent of a St. Joe's student and parishoner. I would encourage anyone moving to central PA to consider this school for their children. Best in the area.
We have been a part of this wonderful school community for 7 years now and have been very happy. We have three kids enrolled currently and one more coming in next year. Have there been some bumps along the way? Sure there have, but no more than anywhere else. Teachers are dedicated and caring. Administration is top-notch. Discipline policy is excellent and teaches the kids respect for their peers and those in authority. We graduate quality students with all the skills to succeed in high school and beyond. Note: preschool is coming for 3 & 4 year olds for 2010-2011 school year!
I have two kids enrolled, what a wonderful school!! Coming from another catholic school in the area I must say what a difference great administration and teachers make. The school is well laid out, with lower school on the first and second floors and upper school on the third. I wish I would have sent my kids here from the beginning.
I have three children enrolled at SJS, and 2 who will be. The administration is remarkable, and the teachers as a whole are outstanding. Are there some that are better than others? Of course. Are some waiters better than others? We are fortunate to have a staff at SJS who are truly there for the Catholic education of the children... they are certainly not there for the money. The most important facet of St. Joe's is the sense of community. I am pleased to send my kids to a school everyday at which I know that they will be held to the same standards as they are at home. I am on a first-name basis with >1/2 of the parents of my childrens' classmates. Top notch school. Highly recommended. Curious to know if those who have been involved for so long ever voiced their concerns at school, or just online?
I am excited to have my 2 children enrolled at St Joseph's. At first I was concerned about the class size being large, but when you experience a typical day at St Joseph's the children are so well behaved and the teachers have such control in the classroom that it is clearly not an issue. St Joseph's as a great reputation, and it's obvious why when you compare them to the public schools in the area.
It is always interesting to see different opinions. My girls are in the new school. Building wasn't designed properly....but aside from the building, this school has seriously gone down hill! I've been involved with the school for over 10 years and the lack of attention and caring by the administration to the quality of teachers is so disappointing. There are still some great teachers, but the bad ones are really overcoming the good. I recommend you do not enroll your children in this school - big waste of money!
