'Not all parents and teachers at this school have worked hard or fought to keep desirable and appropriate programs in existence. Of course the children are suffering as a result! Leadership is lacking fundamental and basic understanding of the programming the children receive fragmenting their education. Personal experiences with administrators, some school board members , and some supporting staff were unproductive and unprofessional due to this schools administration. There are no foreign language electives afforded to elementary students at an age when world economics rule. Children are like sponges of desire for knowledge when entering the elementary grades, but this school is missing the mark for a better future for all the children they are suppose to serve and the principal is doing nothing to weed out those new teachers who are 'apple polishing,' while they waste the precious time and resources of the students.
I do believe that Mercer Elementry is a fine school.Although I do not feel that a lot of the teachers and other staff makeyou feel welcome. When i speak with office staff and others I feel very uncomfortable like as soon as I walk out the door the next 10 mins will be them talking about me.But overall I suppose it is a good school as far as my childs education goes.
I feel the Mercer Area School District and Schools are truly dedicated to their students. The teachers genuinely care about the learning process and try very hard to avoid teaching to the test. The bar is set high at Mercer Area Elementary and every student is encouraged and helped to reach that bar. I am a mother of two boys at Mercer Area and also a teacher candidate at a local university. I have been inside of many schools in the surrounding areas and Mercer is by far the best in my opinion.
