I graduated from Middleburg before the new millennium. Perhaps I didn't apply myself as much as I should have, but I certainly didn't get the warm fuzzies from any of the teachers or other various administration. There seemed to be a vast disconnect between the real world and what was being taught in the classroom. Much of what I recall about my experience there leaves a foul taste in my mouth. The school focused on teaching wood working, metallurgy and other trade skills needed to support the local economy, as there are many factories in the area with positions which require such skills. Unfortunately, the world changes rapidly, and Middleburg was the school that time forgot! There was no focus on technology; we used apple IIc's for all of my 'computer / keyboarding' classes from the time I began there until I graduated in 1999. I understand there have been some technological and building improvements since that time, but I would be hesitant to believe that the quality of education a student would receive has changed much. If you're moving to the area, I would consider Selinsgrove, Lewisburg, Danville, or one of the many available private institutions before settling on Midd-West.
I graduated from MHS in 2004 and it truly is a fantastic school. The teaching staff is fabulous! They are dedicated to the education of students and their well being. Not every person learns the same way and the teachers take this into account and will work with students until they understand the class material. Entering college as a biology major I found that I had obtained a higher level of education than most other students and I was able to be very successful. I participated in the music programs, sports programs, and law mock trials that were available among many other activities and these programs were great! They developed leadership, communication skills and confidence in the students. Parental involvement was encouraged and appreciated by all faculty and program staff. Even after graduation, I have kept in touch with many former teachers and continue to ask them for advice.
I was a student in Middleburg Highschool a few years ago. This school is unfair and does not take education seriously at all. The teachers and principal give their all to the students with the 'right last name.' This school is very unfair and I would never let my child attend there. I think teachers should be more concerned with the education each child is recieving other then just focusing on children with a certain 'status'. Please think twice about sending your children to this high school.
I was enrolled in Middleburg last year. I really liked it there. The teachers were very nice and the Vice principal, Mrs. Samualson, was the nicest principal I have ever met. She always treated me with respect. Mr. king was the best guidence councilor I ever had. He was always so kind and good at giving advice. I also got along with most other students there also. If it was up to me, I would go back.
