Greater Works Academy

Greater Works Academy offers students a safe environment on a large campus... They have many very caring teachers who not only love their work but love the children... When children feel safe and loved they can learn better... They also learn about the love that God has for them... I would recommend Greater Works Academy to any parent...

My child went to Greater Works , but it closed its secondary level at the end of 2008. I had to find a new school to send my child. My child loved the teachers at the secondary level and realizes now the wisdom, dedication, and love of teaching that the teachers had at Greater Works.

Praise God for a Christian School with great values and morals still exist. With the way children are being influenced these days, we need a Christian School that builds character in children. Academically Greater Works has been an average school for my children, but with the student ratio and the great values and morals the teachers and administration instill are priceless. Greater Works has always had a safe environment for children, and a great foundation to send a child up to grades 6. I would highly recommend the investment and safe atmosphere for your children. We all want God's best for our children. This school lays a firm foundation to outreach to the community and for a child to be a 'light' in the public school system when they go into middle school. Excellent investment.

My two daughters both graduated from Greater Works Academy and still keep in touch with friends and teachers that they met while there. There is a family-like bond that members of the Greater Works Community share that is unlike any other work or school relationships that we've experienced. There was a deep spiritual connection that was forged while there that continued to sustain my daughters throughout their college years. Because of the foundational training they received while there, they have been able to become the successful women they are today. They had their times of 'I hate school' just like most of their peers went through, but later came to appreciate the priceless treasure that their time at Greater Works was.

As a former graduate of GWA.. I think it is a very good school with small classes and much attention to spirituality. I received a great education there and only pulled by children out because I had to move. They attended 2 years there.

There is no clear leadership at GWCS. Students have had no activities this year because all the responsability is on them for trips and dances and their views are not respected. Please don't make your child suffer through this school, I highly doubt there will be a highschool next year due to only 3 parents showing up to the re-enrollment meeting. This is a sad case of a good school or at least the highschool portion coming to its demise...

As a former student of Greater Works, and one who was also a Monroeville resident, I do feel I can make an objective review of this school. Greater Works has some strengths, the main one being that it is a Christian school where faith is the foundation to your learning, however academically, I don't feel I was prepared to compete academically at the university level had I been if I attended my local public school which is actually a good school district. Another weakness about Greater Works is that over the years it has become the place families in urban areas or surrounding areas with declining school districts are sending their kids which unfortunately has affected the make up the student body as well as student relations and relations between the students and faculty.

Greater Works Academy (now being renamed to Greater Works Christian School) is a comfortable, safe place for children. However, as an academic institution, it does not deliver a good high school education. Please check out two simple facts: (1) Greater Works is NOT accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)...it is only a 'member'. This means it pays annual dues but does not submit to external review by ACSI. (2) Approx. 50% of the Senior class at Greater Works receives High or Highest Honors, which is not normal. Additionally, the claim at GWA that 90% of its students go on to college is misleading. Most students do NOT go on to graduate from a 4-year institution with descent grade point averages. Basically, Greater Works looks good on the outside. But it has a policy of demanding little effort from the students yet giving them excellent-looking transcripts...just pay the tuition..that's it.
