I am currently a student at Montgomery Area High School and I wouldn't rate it more than just average by any means. In the past few years from the time I started high school, every aspect of Montgomery has gone downhill. Our athletic groups are merely thriving because of athletic ability..not because of outstanding coaches. Our academic programs are far from what they use to be..this school district has a way of letting the 'good' teachers go. The administration is definitely not at it's peak either. As much as the MAPP program is meant to help students, I don't believe this much is true. In all reality, it's a complete joke. Don't get me wrong, I have made wonderful friends and there are a select few in the staff that I can say i do respect, but the school district is not what it use to be.

I attended Montgomery Elementary school from 1st through half and 6th grade. and thne I moved and attened several other schools. It was always my hope that I would return to Montgomery and graduate from there. I did. I loved that school. Classes were small and teachers knew the students and it provided for more one on one teaching. The academic program was up to date and prepared me for college coursework. All of the faculty and staff, from teachers to custodians and bus drivers, all cared about us students. Montgomery High school is a small town school with big heart.

My daughter did very well at Montgomery. The teachers know their students and work with them. Coach Weaver instilled discipline and a great work ethic in his players basketball players. The result is a daughter who is a Ph.D. and college professor of whom we are certainly proud.

I feel that Montgomery Hig School gave me a more than average education. The teachers at this school prepared me for college and because of them I found myself already knowing alot of the information I needed for my first year classes. I was able to graduate with a 3.0 GPA due mostly to the base education and I received at Montgomery. I am currently looking to buy a house in this school district so that my two children are able to receive the kind of education I was able to get. The teachers make sure they are available for extra help and with the small class sizes they know each student.
