I wholeheartedly believe that Montrose High School is an amazing high school. Every school has certain qualities that do need to be improved. For Montrose, that is definitely writing. However, every day the students and faculty are trying to improve the school. A few weeks ago was the annual Student Council Board Meeting, where the students involved in Student Council present issues to the School Board. In fact, the issue of the poor writing skills were addressed. The students must wait for the School Board to converse within themselves to find an appropriate means of improving the issues concerning the school. What other schools would allow something of this nature to take place? We may have our problems but we're learning from them and doing things to improve them.

The quality of academics is very poor. The students do not have books for some classes and other teachers just don't use them. There is not enough attention on writing skills and this shows in their state test scores. Some teachers cannot be bothered if a students does not understand what they are teaching. My child has not learned much since he has started at this school. There seem to be several activities children can join. The parents all complain about how their child is not doing well but no one is willing to speak up! I am not one of those parents. I will do whatever I have to in order for my child to get a good education.
