My son attended this school for special education in Kindergarten and 1st grade, and it was a nightmare. The staff was not warm or friendly, and our family was made to feel like visitors were little more than an inconvenience-- certainly not welcome! I tried attending home and school meetings to no avail, because apparently the information is only available to those In The Know. You either are part of the clique, or you're nobody. This is the worst elementary school I have ever dealt with, and I wouldn't wish this little dungeon of a school on anyone's child.
I have a grandson who attends North Wales Elementary School, he has had some difficulty with his reading. He had this problem prior to his admission to the school. Now his reading ability is wonderful. He gets wonderful grades. His spelling is excellent. The teachers and the school have given him the best incentive to continue as a student and have confidence in his capabilities.
With both my children educated at North Wales Elementary, I must say it is truly a school with excellent, dedicated teachers who care for the kids. Parental involvement is outstanding, and there is a true sense of community among the families and the school staff. A gem among the North Penn schools!
This is a great school. My daughter is in the third grade. She has an absolutely fantastic teacher ho expects the most out of her kids...because she knows they have the ability. I also cannot say enough about the principal. My daughter has been experiencing some personal problems this year and the principal (as well as other school staff) has been exceptional in showing not only myself, but my daughter, that she truly cares about my daughter's wellness. Again, I cannot say enough.
The quality of academic programs is small, however they do have a gifted program and some clubs and organizations after school. They offer the 4 majors and no languages which was a little disappointing due to our new bilingual population. The music program is by and far one of the best I have ever seen. The aret and sports programs are status quo. There are many parents that are involved at our school. However, it always seems to be the same parents that are there every time.
For some reason, the school policy is to not give much homework. The No. Penn policy is 10 min. of homework times the grade number.
