The school district overall has done a really poor job, I believe, when it comes to helping my child learn. She's still very weak with math and spelling, and is often bored in class. Of course, they would rather blame her than look at themselves. The principal, while very engaging, is more like a guidance counselor than a school administrator and seems to run the school as if it were daycare and not an institution of learning.
6/5/09 Northampton schools are lacking one very serious quality that any top rated school has! Answer: The ability to accept diversity in a positive not negative manner.
My son is almost done with kindergarten and it was just a wonderful year. He has some special needs, they gave him everything he needed and will continue to give him whatever he needs next year at(Franklin or Siegfried). He is not in a special education class, but whatever he needed they gave him. That was so important, kindergarten is where it all begins. I can deal right now with the messy buildings, as long as my child is getting a good education. Lets just hope these school buildings get finished soon, construction is taking too long.
MY child has attended this shool for 2 years ,I'm very pleased with I his pass and present teacher.I feel my childs learning needs are met.the staff is very positive and inviting. However I feel the new construction taking place this year, is badly planned .The children need an alternate temporary play ground .I don't think it's healty for our kids to not have out door recess. They also need better lunches.I'm sure they can do better than just P B & J .
My child will be attending kindergarden this year, and tonight we met the principal at orientation. I was very impressed with the way he adressed the parents. He was very upfront about what he expected from the parents, which showed me that this man is devoted to this school succeeding in every way. He seems to be someone who understands the real issues that children these days go through. He is also 'down to earth' and easy to get along with. So far, I like what I've seen in this school. Sincerely, Christine Wise
Classroom size too big 26 and growing. I felt that I was not given enough info. on my son's progress and was kept in the dark. Had numerous problems with cafeteria staff along with many other parents and after many many tries was unable to have individual removed. Very unhappy, unrewarding environment
