As a current high school student, I am so thankful for the chance to attend this school. Not only are the teachers amazing and the academics challenging (sometimes too challenging), but their love for God is so evident, as well as their concern for students. The chance to worship at the Spring Program this year is one of the highlights of my year.

Although Northumberland Christian School at first glance appears to be a caring, educational environment, that's certainly not the case. Students are not encouraged to have a modicum of free-thought, their spiritual independence is repressed, and the administration is generally incapable of self-criticism. Should a student present a problem to the supposedly loving staff in my experience he or she will be condescended and demonized. Although I was unaware when first attending, I've come across various disputes of the general virtue of the school. If your child has no issue keeping him/herself perfectly aligned with the seemingly vacillating ethics of the school, then by all means, it's an excellent choice. If, however, you expect your child makes a single mistake that is life-shattering to him or her and be in desperate need of support, even if it harms no one else, expect to be confronted with nothing but a hypocritical and compassionless staff largely comprised of narcissists. Unless your child is perfect by the school's definition, please do not put him or her through the pain the school so unflinchingly delivers.

I am so glad that my daughter is learning not just academics, but the foundations of an honorable character at Northumberland Christian School. I am also in awe of the school's music program - at a time when music is seen as an "extra" to be cut when budgets are tight, Northumberland Christian School imbues all its students with a sincere appreciation of music in its many forms.

My children are receiving an excellent education. The teachers are kind and caring and have high expectations. The children memorize scripture and will have it in their hearts for life. A true and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus is modeled. The music is excellent, and the students learn to praise God. I'm very thankful for this school.

My daughter goes to this school, but she left because she wanted to see what is was like to go to a public school. Well, she went half way into 1 school year and wanted to go back. I mean, that's how good the school is. The teacher's are great, the food's way better than public school's and the academic's are amazing. My daughter has a ton of friends, all the teachers like her and she's a great student.

My children both attend this school and the education, both academic and moral, that they recieve is superb. The staff here really care about the students and it shows. My children are several grades ahead of their their grade level than what they would be if attending public school.

Community ratings and reviews do not represent the views of GreatSchools nor does GreatSchools check their accuracy or verify the reviewers' identities. Use your discretion when evaluating these reviews.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
