2010-2011 school year the school became a promise academy they had one of there best school years in a long time academics was on the rise better uniforms and so many programs, my kids played rugby, on track team, in drama club, and played violin they also attended school on Saturdays and longer school days 8:00am-4:09pm it's was a success, the superintendent for that year hand selected the teacher from everywhere as a part of turnaround movement failing schools, that superintendent is gone and all the extra programs to help our children Saturday left with her. You can call a school a promise academy, young scholars, mastery or any other name it takes more then one year to reform a failing school you have to be consistent with programs for it to be a success just because we live in low income areas doesnt mean we can't learn we need better schools because there will always be low income areas earning high incomes start with a better education

I feel that Dunbar teachers are totally unprofessional. The school is trying to improve but you need new staff in order to do that.

I think this school doesn't hane enough staff to fully monitor the students. My child has experienced many bad encounters with other children because they were not monitored by school staff.
