I am a proud parent of a Chester Arthur first grader. There is a very caring and supportive environment at CA - the teachers, administrators, and students seem to truly care about one another. The school is small and its support team accessible. It is making great strides toward increasing its offerings and will only continue to bloom.
Chester Arthur has improved greatly in the last couple of years. There is an excellent new principal, many committed teachers and an ever-improving level of commitment from the community. The school just had a new play structure installed, has a whole bunch of new technology in support of STEM Education and quite a number of programs related to the Arts. The school's outside support organization (FoCA) is also excellent and has raised a lot of money for the school and helped the community get involved. FoCA recently held an event that raised about $25,000 for STEM education.
My daughter attended kindergarten here last year, and will be entering 1st grade here next week. She loves going to school, and the principal and teachers here are motivated and caring. The community has really rallied around this little school in the last few years and it is blossoming. I'll also be sending my youngest here too come 2016 .
I've been involved in this school for the past 4 years (I have a child who will enter Kindergarten there in 2016) and I've been amazed at what a little gem it is. The Principal is amazing, the teachers are great, and the students arrive eager to learn. It's a small, neighborhood school and I'd encourage any prospective families to check it out.
This school has undergone a recent change in administration and the results have not been positive. The staff has some very strong teachers, but there is no saying how many will come back to a school whose administration is proving to be more of an obstacle than a benefit.
