Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son started kindergarten this year and I'm quite happy with his teacher and the school in general. The new principal is making big positive changes and it feels like a school on the rise! She is a very effective leader and will no doubt improve the academics and school performance in the coming months and years.

The new principal runs a tight ship. She started a new program at lunch where students now play games after eating. It's made a big difference. Things are more organized, and there seems like more school spirit. The teachers have always been great, and there's very little turnover.

Adaire recently hired a new Principal, and she is fantastic! We are so lucky our school now has such a seasoned leader, and she's already made some great changes! Dr. Long is also an amazing teacher, and I love that the PhD educator chose to teach in the public school system instead of a university. Kudos for her commitment to public education!

I graduated from this school recently with an IEP for mentally gifted classes. the work i was being given in my M.G. class (if you could even call it that) was more like busy work than anything. The homework/classwork in no way prepared me for high school, and it seemed that the only goal was to make AYP. I hope that Adaire will realize the error in its ways and understand that they're not the perfect school that they brag about being, they need to buckle the students down and strive to not only make AYP but to do better. Because i am a bright student and the transition to high school was hard for me, i can only imagine what it's like for kids that struggle.

I dont understand the bad review, my son has an I.E.P. and is welcomed in this school with open arms, and for the bullying issues, i do not see this happening, my son was bullied at his previous school which had given him social anxiety, could not get my child even to have lunch in the lunch room with other children. since my son started at Adair, he is happier, healthier, and for the first time loves to go to school...He actually feels safe!! I could not ask for a better learning environment for my son...Mrs. Oddo is so involved with the children, and they are all in her best interest all the time. The secretary,. nurse, special ed teacher, school psychiatrist, lunch staff,Home and School. I mean everyone.,every staff member at at Adair, are compassionate and understanding. I have grown children as well, and have been in the school system a very long time, and have not been involved with a school with such high standards..My son comes home feeling more confident and prouder every day in himself....Thank you Adaire

VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE SCHOOL ESPECIALLY THE PRINCIPAL MRS ODDO.SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO CONTROL OR RUN THE SCHOOL.THERE ARE MANY ISSUES OF BULLYING AND GOD FORBID IF YOUR CHILD HAS AN I.E.P FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION THEY ARE NOT WELCOMED AT ALL.

I went to Adaire when I was in grade school and graduated in 2001 I am just trying to find the best school for my son and I am afraid that a lot of things have changed since I've been there. If Anyone has children that go there now I would really appreciate some feedback from thre school I am a little scared because he is starting kindergarten and I just don't know where else to send him. thank you!

If you don't like the school or have so much to say . Why don't you just take your child out . put them in another school. THe grass may be greener on the other side.

I would love to know where you get your information. I guess since your a regular volunteer we will see you at every event this year? Perhaps you can man our new welcome desk, or help with one of the many events we have planned since it is always the same few who come out? I can tell you that many things are going to change this year.

I already told everyone I have volunteered there for many years....I do know what I am talking about...maybe everyone else needs to listen to the children that go there too....that is half of Adair's problem.....they don't take the time out for the children...I listen to adults and the children...not just the adults.

to the person who had worte the message about betty and april taking up space and time needs to see how their child really needs to see how they act up during lunch time. Instead of talking your time to write it on this web site why don't you come and talk about it face to face. Stop talking trash about the people that do a fine job at what they do......

I am a former student and a parent of a current student and I am truely disappointed! The school has lost their edge...there's no discipline! The test scores have dramatically dropped every year since my daughter started 6 years ago. I think the scores would go back up if order was brought back and discipline was enforced! What kind of punishment is in- house suspension or detention? The kids know that if they misbehave they get rewarded by getting out of class! What happened to after school detention?? Hit the kids where it hurts...cut into their time! I guess that would mean that the staff may need to stay later and actually work for their money!!

I love the schhol but I think they really need to focuse on the bully and the really need a new nurse the one they have now doesn't not do her job my daughter broke her finger and i wasn't notified she is only 7 seven not to mention she tells the kids i don't wanna hear about it go back to class when they come down saying they are sick I really can't want for MR Mcgrogan to come back I am not liking the new principal.

My son has adhd and was forced out of his previous school in first grade because they didnot want to deal with him but since he switched to adaire he has blossomed into a wonderful child.Mr mcgrogan is the most fair and understanding principal i have ever seen and the teachers all give 100 percent to the children. I think this is the best public school in philadelphia.

Both of my kids started here in kindergarten. I also had my nieces and nephew going here since kindergarten. I think this is the best public school in the area. The teachers are great and if kids are having trouble they do help in any way possible. Our new principal is the greatest he will help the children and the parents. They have after school programs called Century 21 and power hour which is good for the kids.

I wanten to commend Adaires 1st grade teaching team, namely, Mrs Karla Scanlon, as well as the Principal, R. McGrogan for it's participation in the Odyessy of the Mind program. I am a parent of a 1st grader who was invited to be 1 of 8 students chosen for this program. These kids have amazing imaginations and watching them over the 10 week preparation period, bringing their 'Space Trek' to life, was an opportunity of a lifetime. Kudos to you all, you have very bright futures ahead of you!

Once your child makes a mistake, they automatically expell your child. What are they teaching your children today? First mistake cant be reprimanded??? This school doesnt care about our children, they just want to ship them out to another school instead of correcting the problems. They need to teach kids how to handle peer pressure and where kids can turn to if they have problems

my son has ADHD, he is a social outcast. I have talked to the teacher he has and all of the staff involved. this school is great. they really look out for their students and they make sure the child is number one. my son is in 4th grade, and i have found all the teachers to be very helpful, they go out of their way to make sure you know what is going on in the classroom. this is a great school. Keep up the great work.
