Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter has attended.for over 2 years now. I put her in CCA for safety and for support. She has been safe but the academics are lacking. The school staff is also lacking. Very disappointing. For all the money you are spending plus this is my home church, I expected more. This will be her last year here. Moving on to a better fit.

I've been attending this school for twelve years now, and it is an amazing school hands down. From the time I was in kindergarten I've had nothing but incredible experiences with my walk with The Lord and my teachers and friends. NO I am not in the "cool crowd" and I still have nothing bad to say about it. The students and teachers there are incredible and I hate hearing some of these bad reviews. Notice these are the parent's opinion and NOT the students. Many times I find that the kids who do say they hate the school is because Calvary has rules about dress codes and PDA (public display of affection). They CONTINUOUSLY refuse to listen and get disciplined for it. Is that not what you want for your child? Discipline when rules are broken? I believe with my whole heart that this school is incredible. I love every teacher I've ever had in the past twelve years. Ps. Do you really think that other schools don't have cliques? Just because a child isn't in a certain clique doesn't mean that they won't have friends. At least there are livig and kind teachers and faculty. This school is my everything and I thank them for all they have done in my life.

Don't trust these reviews they delete some of them if they are not to their liking. There are cliques at this school and everywhere you go in life. I was sending my son here and he was a top scoring student with no recognition whatsoever. Your child will get noticed if you volunteer all day or are in with the clique. Some people will just stare at you when you say hello and the worst part is many of them work at the school. I am writing this in hopes of them fixing these problems and being more friendly and practicing what they preach. What if someone that is on the edge of becoming a believer sends their child here and this is their first experience they may no longer want to follow the Bible. If you send your kids here be an example and love other human beings and be friendly instead of forming cliques.

Enter at your own risk. Poor leadership. Specifically the Vice Principal. Academically weak. Expensive lunch. We gave them 2 years to get it together... Moving on!

Calvary Christian Academy has excellent disciplinary structure. Their academics fail short of preparing a graduate for college. I know of 3 graduates that had a very difficult time adjusting to the college studies and felt behind as compared to their classmates. The children, generally are great kids and their parent are very involved in their school and outside activities. I felt that it was important to send my son to Calvary in an effort to assist me in teaching him how to be a God honoring respectable man, which I am glad to say, they did a great job. As for the academics, I continued his education at home during the summer to help him stay on target and possible ahead of peers in other schools in his grade. The teacher, are wonderful. Yes, they can, at times be judgmental, but are not beyond accepting that their comments were unacceptable if it made you feel... uncomfortable. I have experienced all of this and more. Overall, Calvary is a good school. Teaches morals where I feel as if, that part of the education portion is just not enforced outside the home in many schools. It was worth my investment.

We sent our daughter to this school because we wanted her to have good Bible teaching, academics and personal safety. We also wanted her in a school environment that does not tolerate students who use alcohol, drugs, and profanity. Calvary expels such students, and parents then usually find a way to blame the school in some way (hence, the negative reviews on this website). There are no cliques, just people who don't know how to make friends, and it's easier to blame others for that than to accept personal responsibility. My daughter was there for all of her elementary and high school years, and loved it. She even went on to Calvary Bible College, and is now a volunteer leader in the youth church ministries at Calvary Chapel. It's easy for parents to blame Calvary Christian Academy for their own failures in raising their kids at home. CCA can only do so much.

Cold hearted principal and school leaders, judgemental of all especially those not in the click and church (unlike the principles they say they preach to their students)....extremely weak academically. Their special educational program is a joke...more like a pay to pass program where students are housed and contained rather than educated unless you consider reviewing the same exact material year after year. There is nothing truly christian about this school so do yourself and family a favor and seek alternative Christian school placement.

I can't wait for the school year to end... Taking my child out! The teachers are partial. I'm white and I don't like how they treat the (few) African-American students. No love! The vice principle is mean and sneaky. The principal is not a good leader. The lunch is extremely expensive. Academically weak!

(I am a current student at CCA) this school is amazing! I can say for myself that there are now cliques in the individual grades.when I was talking with my friends they agreed with me. I am not popular now do I wish to be. I am just a quiet person and people still accept me and talk to me all the time! That is the awesome hung about Calvary there is a great bond between the students and staff,. I love my teachers they are all very kind and helpful. Of course like any schools there are good and bad things but I personally believe there are maaaaany more good things than bad. I went to a school before CCA and now I would never want to leave here. The education is great, and the extracurricular activities are amazing! They have just about any sport you can imagine and a lot of other things like drama, and mentoring. They faculty promote God and his standards and have such a great testimony .

This school is a great fir for parents looking for a good christian school. They have teachers who actually care about there students and their education. For all who say there is a "Calvary clique" you are sadly mistaken. Like any high school you will have to make your own friends and there is no such thing as a Calvary clique what so ever. This school has so much more to offer than people realise and the education is much better than in a public school. They have special fit classes for any student.

Academically behind public school. They sell a good ticket to get you into the school, but, can't keep you. I also did not see or feel the love of Chist on the level I expected. I didn't have a need for special services/special Ed, but, several parents complained about them being able to deliver what they promise. False advertisement. Too much money for bad service.

Calvary is an amazing school with a great facilities and teachers who honestly care about their students. The curriculum is VERY good (better than some other private, very expensive, non-christian schools). The students (for the most part) are very kind and supportive of their peers. Many different kids from many different backgrounds can come to this school and feel accepted. Feeling like you 'belong' is very important to CCA and there are many programs set up to ensure that. (An example is the buddy program- when a new student comes to the school they are matched with a 'buddy' over the summer, whom they become friends with. It's the 'buddy's' job to introduce the new student to kids, and show them around the building) The Bible teaching is spot-on, and the children enjoy chapels either every month, every other week, or every week (depending on their grade). There are also extra 'spiritual' things the students can participate in if they choose- such as Lunchtime Girls Prayer/ Lunchtime Boys Prayer (for middle school students). The school isn't perfect, but God is working in it, and its blessed, and I'm sure that if you decide to send your child there you will be blessed also!!!!!

I have had 2 children attend CCA (18 yrs total). CCA has many children of teachers and stay at home moms who are able to be at the school daily. This group emprises what is known as the Calvary Clique . These children receive special attention/rewards, while others are overlooked, despite deserving recognition. This is heartbreaking to children and their parents. If your child happens to be in the clique , he/she will have a great experience, even be guaranteed a starting position on team sports. For years, I have overlooked the favoritism and judgmental attitudes at CCA in return for the Biblical teaching. The problem is, most of the staff doesn t practice what they preach, and children are left confused. Being a small private school, CCA follows its own code of rules. It was heart breaking removing my children from the only school they have known, but I now wish I would ve made this decision yrs ago. Since my children transferred schools this year, I have realized how much CCA lacks academically and extracurricularly. I am now confident that my children will be more prepared for not only college, but for the world outside of the Calvary Clique .

I sent my oldest there several years ago, and when it was time to send my youngest, I decided to send him somewhere else. The vice principal is unbelievably rude, her attitude is appalling. If you are not in the 'Calvary Clique' then you are an outsider. This school is certainly not what it used to be, nor what the wonderful headmaster intended it to be.

Both my children go to this school and love it. I do too. Excellent academics and great teachers and staff. Would not change for any reason. Biblical teaching is spot on.

Solid spiritual education, but lacking academically. The philosophy is "spiritual excellence, academic proficiency". Both my husband and I went to Ivy League universities and we wanted a strong academic environment for our children. CCA does not offer that, BUT your child will leave with a strong biblical foundation. Since we provide that at home, we put our children in a local public school with a better academic program.

The school is wonderful. Small class sizes. The teachers are always willing to talk to the parents about any concerns or issues. They will go the extra mile to help your child learn. Its not just the teacher that gets involved. It's the principal, asst. principal, counselors, tutors ect. The whole staff. You can see & even feel the love, concern and care that they have for the children. I don't worry about my daughter being safe. I know she is. I Know she is being taught good Christian morals & values. She loves learning about God and our Saviour Jesus.

CCA has provided an excellent education that not only challenges our two sons to be the best they are capable of being, but does so in a way in which they are learning that all of life id to glorify Christ. I am grateful for the emphasis the school places on having a personal relationship with Christ (as opposed to a list of rules).

We are truly blessed to have our two children enrolled at Calvary Christian Academy. The teaching and support staff are second to none. As a special education teacher who works in dozens of schools in Bucks County as a consultant, I know there is not another school/faculty that can hold a candle to this place. My children are in a secure, loving environment where they are growing in their spirituality everyday. The teachers have consistent, positive teaching strategies in place which encourage responsible behavior and cooperation. We are beyond pleased with CCA and our girls will continue there through graduation.

Calvary is a good choice for parents who are interested in helping their children grow in the Lord, but education wise i would avoid it. I went to Calvary in 2002-2003 it was fun and the kids are nice. However i am a extremly good student and i was not challenged. One of my biggest personality flaws, is when i am not challenged i lose interest and start to hate it. I switched to another public school and was a little bit behind in English and Science classes. I had to work hard to get caught up and i am glad i made up all the work before i went to college!

This year is my children's 3 year at CCA. Calvary is a great school spiritually and show it in everything they do, including sports. The coaches uses sports as a ministry tool for others. They have great academics and they care about the child as a whole and not just the grades they produce. It would be nice if they had more classes per grade to lower the student-teacher ratio. My kids enjoy school and they always say they feel safe going there. I think it is one of the few Christian private schools in the city of Philadelphia that has a good variety of sports programs. My children are in 6th and 7th grade and they already know they want to go to college. I don't think they would have thought that much about it in their previous school.

Due to marraige/relocation my children no longer attend this school. God should be part of their learning education which my children & I miss but continue ourselves through daily devotions, prayer & music. They do enjoy the after school activities at public that Calvary did not offer. I enjoy being part of Home&School which Calvary did not offer. It allows me to be more connected to their day. I would not hesitate to re-enroll my children if we relocate back to the area. Teachers & staff are exceptional! The values taught are great. God Bless.

The teachers and administrators of this school do their very best to meet the educational, spiritual, and emotonal needs of each child as an individual and beloved child of God. They really care about these students, not only their scores or how good they can make the school look which is unfortunately the case in another Christian school that they had attended. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have two of my children graduate from this school and go on to college and their future with confidence. I really do not believe that either of them would have gone on to college if they had not come to Calvary. This is a wonderful school where your child will be loved!

Calvary Christian Academy for being a private school has too many children in the classrooms. I believe that in order for children to achieve the classromms must be smaller.
