The faculty and staff all seem to work perfectly together, thereby ensuring an extremely strong academic and social program. I have two children and ever since kindergarten have been extremely pleased with the quality of education they both receive. When my son was in kindergarten, he had some anger issues which the school, including Principal Getkin, smothered before it could become a significant concern. And that is the way it is at Howe, everyone is there to ensure that the education is unparalleled. When academics slip, the principal, counselor, academic advisor, teachers and parents all join together to get the student back on track.

I have two daughters who attend Howe School, which places a strong emphasis on academics, particularly writing, math and science, as well as character development. Excellent level of art and music appreciation. Good physical education program, though only required two days each week instead of five. Friendly, supportive, encouraging teachers and staff. Parents are very involved. Nice mix of extracurricular activities. A true neighborhood school we give an A+!

I currently have 2 children at Julia Ward Howe School. My oldest daughter is in 3rd grade and my younger daughter is in kindergarten. My oldest daughter has needed a little extra help with reading and I can't say enough about the support we have received from the school. Her teacher comes in early 2 times a week and works with my daughter and after her recess she receives some help from the Title 1 teacher without having to be pulled out from regular class time. The progress that my daughter has made is wonderful and I thank all the great teachers at Howe. We will be leaving the Mt Lebanon area to relocate to Raleigh NC and we will sadly miss such a wonderful school district and great community.
