I am in sixth grade here and I feel that its the best school you can get. I mean how many middle schools and high schools do you get that have dancing programs or that have you go to the benudum theatre every other week?? not very many thats how much. also, i love that not anyone can just come in, although people can leave. i mean you have to try out. im just madly in love with this school and if i were you i wouldnt think twice about sending your child there. and if anyone thinks different then they should come check it out then tell me how they feel. lol. But seriously come visit us. we are friendly too
i go to capa it's a wonderful place i highly recommend it if you want to take learning to a creative level
All of my friends go to CAPA and they don't ever stop talking about the enjoyable and happy exciting days they have there. Most people that no about CAPA know that for example if you go there for writing you just study writing you don't have dance classes or art. But having a school set up like this is a very easy and susscesful way on running a school. This way is so much better because then you manily study one major thing and that will help you concentrate on progressing in what ever you do. CAPA is also a very fun place where you can hang out with your friends at times like at lunch, pluse there's plenty of breathing room so you are not all crouded. In my opinion CAPA is a great school and if I had the chance to go there I would go but I can't so I look forward to hearing about more happy interesting storys about CAPA. (and I know I will because like I said befor my friends don't stop bragging about how amazing the schoool is.)
In one of the reviews a woman is complaining about the education her daughter received in the writing program. I don't get what she's on about. CAPA has phenomenal reading and writing score, and I know from personal experience that the writing program is exceptional. Maybe she has a complex, or maybe she just didn't like what her daughter was writing, but if she sent her daughter to CAPA she sent her daughter to one of the only schools in the district where Pittsburgh children can get an exceptional education.
I find some of the leadership lacking but compared to the other schools in the district this school was the best choice for my child.
My daughter left a private school in sixth grade to attend Rogers CAPA (the middle school) and then CAPA high school. She entered working above grade level. She was in the creative writing program and by tenth grade could not write a coherent sentence. As with most Pittsburgh schools the staff is a mixed bag. A few very dedicated teachers surrounded by bitter incompetent hacks. We had our daughter heavily tutored and put her in a private school for intensive work in her junior and senior years. She will enter a very good college this fall. We feel we dodged a bullet. This is a shame since I am a teacher and my husband is a Ph.D. we both believe in public education but we would never sacrifice another child to the disaster that is the Pittsburgh Public schools.
I am an alumni of CAPA and have to say it was one of the best experiences I could ever have had. Hoping that my kids will one day attend.
Absolutely no complaints. The arts program is fantastic and the academic teachers are extremely supportive.
