My children have been at this school for 10 years and I love it! We are such a family and everyone truly cares. The teachers and staff are so wonderful. They are firm but loving and really care about the kids not only learning but also about their character. Father and the Administration work very hard to make this a great school and a wonderful place to belong.
This school was horrible. Please do look into other schools. Poor communication, poor staff, and poor facilities. The kids were horrible. My son was bullied all the time from the god awful kids there. The staff was awful at communication, and the principal was more concerned about herself than she was the school. There was no organization, and many of the teachers there were just there to leave, not there to actually help and enjoy their job. This school was nowhere near worth the cost of tuition. The building itself was falling apart. The facility was so dirty. They couldn't even afford new text books, so my son had to use a textbook from around 1980s era that was falling apart. If you are looking for a private school, please save yourself and look elsewhere.
To say the least, there are better schools for your children. Poor communication. Poor education quality. Tons of inconsistencies. No one seems to care here. Doesn't help to hear staff talking negatively about students and parents often. If it makes a difference, they are implementing Common Core. You can get that at any public school.
Too many teachers there for a paycheck, waiting for retirement, who don't care about the kids. School has a "protect the faculty, even when they're wrong" mentality. School office and faculty are horribly disorganized. Two of the worst teachers my children ever had are there. Not saying there aren't some wonderful teachers, but the others are so unfit to be there it's hard to see past. Declining student population for obvious reasons. If it weren't for the parents, the school couldnt run itself. Sad, it used to be a good school.
There are 26 kids in my kids first grade this year. So make sure you call schools to find out the # of students in class instead of using this information. OLG is a good school but class sizes are too big for the faculty to handle.
My kids come home from school wanting to read. They have learned to love history and want to learn about our country. OLG is a nice normal good wholesome school. Reading, writing, and arithmetic.
