The teachers and staff here are committed and caring. The small class sizes allow for great flexibility in meeting the needs of each student. It truly is a community.

My grandson has thrived in this small school with the attention of caring teachers and other staff members.

My son has attended KAS since KIndergarten and is now in 8th grade. We love this school! It is friendly, has a low student to teacher ratio, is kind, warm, friendly and child-centered, as well as academically challenging and geared toward the strengths of each student. It is also very oriented toward art with a motivated parent group who work on various projects. Parents regularly provide their different types of expertise as volunteers, and students do a lot of experientially-oriented learning.

Both of my sons have attended Kentucky Avenue School (formerly McEwan School) from kindergarten onward. As of fall 2008 they are entering 4th and 8th grades, and they have both had a great experience there. KAS allows children to learn at their own pace, with a flexible curriculum and many creative, gifted and hardworking teachers. The small class sizes allow students to receive very individualized attention and lessons, which has helped my sons reach their full potential. In addition, the atmosphere is very warm and caring - KAS feels like a family rather than an institution. Parents, teaches and students form a seamless community of support. We love it. McEwan school is now Kentucky Avenue School which has evolved into an academically sound yet responsive to the child school. We love it and our daughter has thrived in this school.
