I was a student at Friendship Hill in the late 90's. I believe this school set me back not only academically, but socially as well. When I was in 4th grade, my teacher Mrs. Fisher thought that I was not paying attention, so she sent me out in the hall. Does that make sense? She also encouraged kids to make fun of me and some other students. She thought my desk was messy, so she made me sit at the table beside her desk in front of the entire class. She also made another child sit on the right side of the chalk board. He didn't do well in class because he couldn't read the other side of the chalkboard. The teachers ignored bullying. There were constant fights on the playground, but instead of breaking them up, the teachers would continue their conversations with each other. The gym teacher, Mr. Foti who is at the high school now, pushed students into doors and walls. We would tell our teachers about it, but they said we were lying and just wanted to get him in trouble. After 7th grade, I moved out of the area. When I started at my new school, I was behind most of the kids in my grade. Only now, I see that all my problems as a child came from that school and some of the teachers.
I believe this school should be awarded the money because it is the stepping stone of our childrens future. The first few years of schooling really sets the bar, as to what our children expect in thier future years of education. When they are left short handed in the beggining, they will expect that all of their lives. A school that prospers will create children that prosper. I know many teachers at this school and they really do care for the children. It is hard to find teachers that are in it for the children. I myself went to this school and things haven't changed a bit. Please deeply consider this school! I can promise you will not regret your decision. Sincerly, Samantha
Both my daughters went to this school and I was extremely happy with the education and attention they received. The teachers and the principal were very caring and encouraging. I'm sorry I moved away and put my youngest in another school.
My child transfered here from another school who has a class size of 30 or more and did not do well. The teachers did not have the extra time to help when their was a question, all they thought about was not getting behind in the studies. This is a nice friendly school and the teachers make sure the students understands the lessons even if they have to spend extra time on a lesson before moving on
This school has very little extracurricular activities available. The teachers are great, but the whole school is just behind. My kids transferred from another school to here, and was so far ahead of the class.
