Pleasant View is a very pleasing school, the teachers are very helpful. They have a new RESPECT program that you can't miss. Their counsler has a lesson with every class every month and tries to prevent bullying. They have put some hard work in trying to make this school run properly.

There are some amazing teachers at this school. However the rest have no business calling themselves teachers. The administration is a joke. They claim a zero tolerance on bullying but nothing could be further from the truth. God help you if your child is the victim because he/she will be the one disciplined. There is no recourse for staff who treat children poorly, even when they admit to doing so. This school is so awful that I'm considering walking away from my house and renting just to move to another district.

Pleasant View has turned out to be a huge disappointment. My child has come home before without homework assignments because the 'classroom volunteer didn't make enough copies for the whole class, so the rest of us have to wait.' This was confirmed, so it wasn't just my child saying it. Also, they are not teaching our children the fundamentals that they need; instead, they are only 'teaching to the test.' I definitely recommend against putting your child in this school. We pay very high school taxes in this district, and we basically get NOTHING for it. If you are moving to PA, you would be far better off putting your kid in one of the online schools and schooling at home. I wish I had done that during my time in PA.

I have been very happy with this school. The nurse has been very active in keeping the children safe even calling home in the evening if a child has hit their head during the day in any way. My daughter has had quality teachers both years she has been there. I have an open line of communication with both teachers as well. The principle has reacted quickly to any issues that I've raised. In particular the PE teacher was having the K class doing push ups on the black top. Because of a freak accident with my daughter they now only do them on mats or in the grass.

I am very pleased with this school. My oldest who is in 6th Grade says thats she would rather be there than be at any other school, even through it is her last year. They have the new spelling program, the writing system I still dont approve of, but it is okay. Their arent many extracurricular programs besides seminar (A gifted and Talented program), Bowling, and Boys and Girls Basketball. Music is a big thing in this school and many studnets are very skilled at playing instruments. Parents arent really involved in this school, but many of the teachers go out of their way to help students improve their skills as well as their grades. If my kids are happy, Im happy.

Most teachers at Pleasant View are very good, concerning themselves with educating students to the best of their ability. They have very good music and library programs. However the district's curriculum is not in the best interest of the students. They use the Rebecca Sitton spelling program which does not teach students how to spell anything other than four or five letter words. Too much emphasis is placed on passing standardized tests for NCLB that they don't teach students anything other than reading, writing and math. Science and history are the forgotten classes. The basics are not being taught the way they should. Parents need to get involved to change this situation now.

Pleasant View has some excellent teachers that go out of their way to meet their student's needs. They also have several teachers that are the exact opposite and parents recieve very little help from the school principal in these situations. The school administration seems much more interested in state test scores and students fitting into their mold of an 'average student' than individual children's needs. Students that are bright but not exceptional or have some achidemic needs but are not below average have very few options at this school. The school district does not fill the need for students in Kindergarten or Pre-first. The PTO at Pleasant View is a joke. The teachers and administration have little or no participation in the organization and the parents have no voice in the school. If you have a child that is well behaved and can do average work they will do fine.
