Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I think that the school does a good job of helping everyone feel included, regardless of what previous posters have said. There are "clicks" everywhere. Rather than talking in the parking lot, people should talk to the principal and teachers to address their concerns. Both have provided feedback and addressed my family's concerns over the last few years. With a small school comes small budgets and requires a lot of volunteer work to help get things done, so if you want to be involved in your kids school, this is a great place for that. They could use a vice principal though to help with operations. The school has a fantastic art and music program, and has 1:1 iPad use in place for grades 6, 7, & 8. Things take time to get better, and this school has been getting better over the last few years.

I had an experience that sounds very similar to the post dated 8/31. I was assured the school was prepared to handle my child's minor -but serious if mishandled- health issue. And if they had said they weren't? I get that they are a Catholic school with limited resources and I would have moved on to another school. It was absolute ineptitude from day one. Misinformation, lack of empathy, ostracism of children who do not fit neatly in their little boxes. Their preschool program costs significantly more than other Catholic school programs in the area and I had hoped that would equate to a better quality. It doesn't. In short, I would say avoid.

Was actually relieved to read the words of the previous poster as I feel much the same way. The principal is a rude and condescending woman. Now I see that her attitude toward myself and family were perhaps not personal. I was given misinformation a number of times in regards to matters that concerned my child's health and well being. Proper protocol was not followed and no one accepted responsibility for the information I was given. The staff generally seems to have good intentions but the proper leadership is not in place here. I wish I had trusted my instincts sooner. My children are now thriving in the local prublic schools. St. Hilary's is worn and outdated and the poor management of the school should be a concern for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

This school is just an awful place, and grows exponentially in terms of feeling this much less than adequate for a place of education. The entire faculty, especially the principle, who is the quintessence of a terrible administrator and leader of a school, are clearly not qualified to teach to the future of our country. If I have to end, I would like to say that this "school" or rather glorified day-care center is not fit to educate anybody on any level of academia, please do not make this mistake.

This is a small school and very very cliquey. Staff say bullying is unacceptable and enforce the 'peace program' but they don't really know how the kids are to each other and by trying to help they only make it worse. Because there's only one class per grade, there is loads of drama, especially among the girls in the school. Of course girls at this age will always be dramatic, but this is off the charts. My daughter experienced girls who would take a look at her at recess, scream and run away for no reason, forcing her to sit in the bathroom stalls at recess time. Now you would most likely think that younger girls do this, but no, this was in 7th and 8th grade. Academically though, this school is above average for a Catholic grade school and the 8th grade teacher is phenomenal at getting the students into the high school they want to go to and really helps them out.

Very happy with the school....We are new here but were made to feel very welcome by the pastor and teachers....Thanks for helping my daughter get through a devastating time as her other school had closed last year....

St. Hilary School has Outstanding academic record. 2007 - 8th graders have won $ 80,000. in scholarships to Philadelphia Archdiocesan and private High Schools. Teachers are degreed and State Certified. St. Hilary's Art, and Music programs are unsurpassed in excellence. Students can participate in Coral groups, Chimes, Music lessons, and band. The student's Art work is framed and proudly hung in the halls. St. Hilary's technology program is phenomenal. There are 2 computer labs. One for independent student work the other a new Dell lab is the instructional lab. The school has a new Dell wireless 16 laptop cart for classroom use and there are hardwired desktops in every classroom. Parents are extremely involved in St. Hilary's programs. There are Library aids to the Librarian, classroom helpers, lunch mothers who cook, and serve hot lunches every day, and recess yard parents. Students have access to CYO sports, music, scouts and forensics
