I am a former student of Epiphany School. I really didn't understand all the teaching until I grew older. Thank you to all the 'Sisters' for their diligent instruction and discipline--yes I said discipline - one of the biggest things missing in the schools today.
I would not recommend this school - it's not worth the tuition. I am a former student, so I know first-hand how inexperienced and incompetent some of the teachers are; more often than not, the teachers were of no help when it was needed. Also, the school discourages individuality, which I think is something everyone needs to be able to express, including children, no matter what background or religion they are from. As far as extra-curricluar activities, the main focus is on music. Art is practically nonexistant in this school, and when I was a student I was actually reprimanded by my teachers for trying to advance my artistic skills. If you want your children to grow up feeling like they would be considered deviant for having their own personalities, then you may as well start ordering the uniforms now. Otherwise, I would strongly suggest seeking a different school.
Epiphany School in Sayre, Pennsylvania is a highly committed school to both academics and Catholic education. The students are their number one priority. The current teachers have been at the school for several years. There are two nuns present in the school. One teaches first grade the other is the principal. There are two teachers who are actually products of the school. The school provides a music program with instrumental instruction. A computer lab is equipped with enough computers to accommodate one class at a time. Parental involvement is of strong importance to the school. They believe that if all work together as a team, the students and the school will be an overall success. This school is strongly recommended if you are looking for a catholic education and a high quality education for your child.
Epiphany Elementary-Junior High School sets a standard of excellence in all they endeavor with a teaching staff of the most dedicated, motivated and stimulating teachers I have ever encountered in four different school districts. The quality of the academic programs and personal interest these teachers provide for my three daughters is beyond compare in preparing them not only for high school but challenging and encouraging them to learn and grow, to know themselves, where their academic, social and extracurricular strengths, weaknesses and interests are. Epiphany School encourages extracurricular involvement in band, chorus or private music instruction. Art is an integral part of their learning experience, their creativity is steadily built upon. Sports are an integral part of the school. Regional Basketball Tournaments are held in the gymnasium, as well as clinics for the boys and girls, and cheerleading. Skiing, Geography & Regional Spelling Bees, Scholarship Challenge and Forensics are all successful endeavors!
