My child will be attending their 3rd year at St. James. While parental involvement is encouraged and required this makes the school very family oriented. For the negatives, class sizes are too big if your looking for more individual attention. Having over 30 students in a class is to much for private education yet seems to drop the higher you go. Modernization of resources needs major attention from classrooms to the library (still using card catalog.) NO airconditioning for the classrooms, makes summer very miserable for the students. Adminstration personnel keep accepting new students while there is barely enough room for what they have. If faith based education is what your looking for, St. James is the place. Acacdemic excellence is expected and yet achieved.

We have been at SJS for four years. We could not be happier. There is such a devoted staff at the school. The teachers view their positions as vocations, not just careers. The students are held to very high standards academically and rise to the occasion. We love that our son is taught daily, self-respect and respect for others. Parent involvement is high and there are numerous extracurricular activities to choose from. The children excel spiritually and academically.

Demanding academics; the children are held to high standards. Without a doubt the St James kids are academically ahead of most of their peers. The parents are VERY involved. The teachers and administration remain easily accessible to the parents throughout the year. The school offers basketball and soccer as part of a dioscesan league. The music director is hands down the best music instructor I have ever seen. The school takes safety very seriously.
