I am only a freshman this year. Pros of the school: clean, open halls, nice lockers, some nice teachers. Cons: some confusing and rude teachers, very full lunches, confusing scheduale set ups, pool for swim class is far from the rest of the schools and it makes kids late to class very often even when rushing. I grew up in SP but I wouldn't really recomend the schools. The district is great for families though.

The school itself is nice, but the lack of good teachers leaves students frustrated. The 'teachers' might be extremely intelligent, but cannot translate their knowledge to the students.

I disagree with the previous posting regarding the amount of attention gifted students receive at the high school. In my experience gifted students have been neglected as much if not more so than special needs students in this district. The size of this district offers little opportunities for those gifted students who desire any learning opportunities beyond reading, writing, and math. It fails to offer A.P. classes in various subjects without offering additional options for students seeking enrichment in these missing subjects. I think this school does a good job of covering the basics, but lacks the resources to do much beyond that.

Good sports programs if you are in tight with the coaches. If not , you fill as needed so the certain few can shine. Average education. Great community to live in.

As a South Park High School graduate, I would like to contribute my feedback concerning this school. I agree with the majority of the previously posted comments- sub-par education attention for those not in sports programs, lack of effective disciplinary action for individuals in need of this type of attention, lack of support for students who have fallen behind/through the cracks, and unfriendliness to individuals with disabilities. This community in general is very difficult to crack in to- you can almost tell which children were born in SP and those who are just waiting to get off to college. Certainly there are exceptions to these generalizations, but I find it unfortunate that students are almost required to look outside their curriculum and 8 hour school day in order to find mental stimulation and advancement. South Park is by far not the worst high school institution around, but avoidance is recommended.

If your child is a sports major, or currently enrolled in any gifted programs, then I would recommend South Park, for these students seem to recieve the greatest attention. As for their curriculum, it leaves struggling children behind, and allows trouble makers to remain in the school with little intervention. I would not recommend South Park schooling to anyone with an average or only slightly above average child who doesn't happen to be a sports star. On a lighter note, however, they do have an astounding sports program, and terrific sports-related scholarship opportunities.

Our family includes seven SPHS grads, all of whom have gone from SPHS to successful careers. Two more will graduate from SPHS this year, and have benefitted from the academic program (both gained early acceptance to their first choice universities) and the sports program. Congrats to SPHS football state champs, boys' soccer state champs, and girls' soccer for their outstanding record!

I would not recommend South Park to anyone. Taxes are too high, education is sub-par and they treat students and parents with indifference.

for a child with disabilities, this is definitely not the school for your child.
