This is a great school system located in a charming area along the Allegheny River. I graduated and have a great career, earning two master degrees and serving as the CEO of well known hospitals in California and the Carolinas. I just wish they would build a regulation sized natatorium. Swimming is a great sport. I swam in college and qualified for the Olympic trials.

Both my son and daughter attended sprngdale high school. Both of them were honor students. Once they went to college they were behind. The first summer they had to go to community college to take courses to help them achieve what was required at college. Smaller school is good as long as you have the leadership and quality that other school provide.

I am a senior in college who is just getting ready to venture out into the real world. I only wish that Springdale prepared me for college as much as my current school has prepared me to begin working. I, along with my friends, look back at my high school experience as a joke. Not only do I lack basic skills, like spelling and grammar, but in no way was I prepared for the work load or the high level of skills necessary for a higher institution of learning. While the faces were friendly, they were not apt at successfully performing their jobs. I spent more time fooling around than doing school work - and I graduated 3rd in my class! They do however, have a great extracurricular activity program which I was always highly involved in. To bad the basic curriculum is not as successful as their art program!

Although we have lived here for a number of years, our children only recently began utilizing the public school system. Our son is going to graduate this year; it is his third year at Springdale High School. Academics are extremely important to us and we are happy to say that we are quite pleased with the education he has received. The level of commitment demonstrated from the teachers and the guidance department to the custodians and food services, is quite impressive. Many of these folks routinely go over and above what is normally expected. Our 9th grade daughter is now attending the school. Her educational experience has been very positive so far. We have two more children who will eventually follow in their older siblings' footsteps. There is definitely an education available in the AVSD for those who are interested!
