My son has been in the Union City School District for 5 years and continues to receive advanced scores on state standardized tests. He's always on the Honor Roll and participates in three sports. Good education starts at home! The teachers are only a supplement ... and they are intelligent, kind, and caring.
It is a very unsatisfactory school with poor acedemic standards. You would be so much better off transfering you child to a different school. Trust me I know i transfered out last year.
I graduated from this school and found the atmosphere to be very influential to my future education. I went on to college and found that I was achieving very high grades compared to most of my classmates. You only get out of your education what you put into your education. The teachers encouraged striving for your best. The only problem was a lack of extracurricular programs.
My wife and I graduated from UCHS in 1998 and although we are both extremely successful, our HS education was extremely poor. When I was a freshman in college I could not believe how far behind and how much more ignorant I was than my fellow college classmates. UCHS had a lot of school spirit and commuity support which made the athletic programs fun, but the education was still poor. My wife and I are both graduate students and if it wasn't for our own hard work and desire, we would still be the typical UC citizen going through life uneducated and complacent. I personally feel that the lack of education there is only partly due to the teachers. The majority of the problem is due to the parents being ignorant. My advice to you would be to find a school with much higher educational standards.
This school has very low standards and my daughters both come home very bored from school and end up being every other childs tutor. The books are all also very old and there are very few extra curricular activies. It is a poor school district with almost no goverment funding. I bought a house in this town so it is very disappointing.
I went to this school. I do not think it is the best place for any student. You are Better off paying for private school.
this is a great and friendly school......when my daughter comes home with something new everyday to tell me she learned in school it makes me feel good knowing teachers care about their students
