I'm so glad I chose Stonehurst for my daughter, she loves to learn and the teachers her love to teach. Her teacher Mrs. Fastman is a true visionary, she recognizes the children's strengths and challenges. My daughter always had a love of books and reading from an early age, but since she's been in Mrs. Fastman's class she reads ten to twenty books a week. Thank you Stonehurst for your fine selection of teachers.

I am in love with this school, my children came from a charter school in Phila. that I thought was ok, until they started at stonehurst. They school is dedicated to the childrens education, the principle is very hands on, the extracurricular activities are great. The school pointed out some things and together we were able to resolve small issues before they became big problems. I am proud to say I am a Stonehurst parent....

My daughter was a transfer student last year and I just love how the staff helped her to feel comfortable in her new surroundings.

The teachers at Stonehurst Hills are some of the most dedicated on the planet. They really care! The Principal is passionate about his job and very eager to see his kids succeed as do all of the teachers. However, Stonehurst is over crowded, but things are now in the works to try to slim down the student population currently at 822.

The academic programs in Stonehurst Elementary school are phenomenal, the classrooms are small to metropolitan schools. The teachers there really take a hands on approach with each child. From being around a number of school districts as a public school the Stonehurst Elementary School gives 150% to each and every child there. They do have many wonderful extracurricular activities such as music, and art. I do not think that this being an elementary school that it is a good idea at this time to think about a sports program, when at this current level the children should be concentrating on the basics of elementary education. The one problem that I do see is that there is not enough parent involvement. So, if you decide to take your child to this school, be ready to support the school, by being involved with your childs education on a day-day basis.

I have not been impressed with this elementary school. My family and I moved from NY two years ago and there is a drastic difference in the academics and overall mannerism of the children. Stonehurst needs a lot of improvement and with the change of Principal I hope it will be headed in the right direction. Parent participation is nill, but again the school does not do much to reach out to these parents...It is as if the school is afraid of change.

I went to this school in the 1980's when it was one of the best schools in the country. I became a teacher and have substituted there only to find a school burdened with over crowded classrooms, deplorable building conditions and lack of disipline from the administrators. In 10 years this school has spirled from a top school in America to one of the worst examples of a school. It's ashame.

I lived in upper Darby for seven years and through the years I have seen a school that was once beautiful just go down hill. The children are barly learning any thing. My son is currently in the first grade and this will be his last year due to the lack standards that this school has shown. The neighborhood has also changed tremendously.
