This is a fantastic school. It's success starts at the principal and flows through her excellent hiring of teachers and support staff. They are so in tune with the difficulties often faced by their students and their families in this lower income school district. They demand parent involvement and receive it. The class sizes are small which is the key to allowing extra attention to both high and low performing students. They do the best they can to extend their impact beyond the classroom by providing healthy eating and walk to school initiatives. My son actually received a big bag of brussel sprouts at school one day because he found the 'hidden healthy food of the day'. Your child will get a great start at Verner elementary.
Verner has been a great schoo, specifically first grade teacher, Mrs. Rapp. My son transferred from a private school when we moved to the area and she made his first year a great one! He's has learned so much, and has matured as well. It's teacher's like her that a make a difference in children's lives. God Bless her!
