After great experiences at Penn London Ele and AGIS, decent experiences at FS Engle, we are really disappointed in AGHS. Our kids have had some very good teachers but I have to say the administration and guidance department are not student focused. They seem more concerned with doing what they "have to" than doing as much as they can to help their students.

AG is really great! its so laid back as an environment but still structured so you get the skills you need. The other students are a bit rude but hey thats highschool. The teachers are very understanding also.

My two brothers attended this school before me, and I can confidently say that they received a better education at Avon Grove than I. Avon Grove has been having a poor trend of quality teacher retention and it has led to the sufferance of the school as a whole. Quality teachers are looking elsewhere once they get their feet wet at AG. The Administration; however, has not addressed this problem adequately and focused more on building a multi-million dollar football stadium. For instance, out of the four English teachers I had in high school only one remained after I graduated. The diversity of the school population has been growing and that is a great opportunity for the school, but the curriculum has not been altered in far too long a time. Look hard at Avon Grove before deciding to attend.

AGHS is an excellent public high school that has students from very diverse backgrounds. It offers a a variety of classes and extracurricular activities are easy to get involved in. Many parents, especially parents of athletes and bandos are very invovled.

Avon Grove High School does an excellent job with both academics and extracurricular activities. The teachers are dedicated and the majority of students are here to learn.

I Went to Avon Grove as a Teen, there is no school better, The staff was great, they were there for the students and not just a pay check. I would reccomend this school to anyone with a child High School Age. They will learn and also get help if needed, The Teachers are the greatest, The secretaries are the best, and the principal is a wonderful asseset to the school.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing, science and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
