The Elementary schools will be consolidated soon near the Jr Sr HS so the district will soon have one large campus - there are pluses and minuses to that but consolidation is all about saving $ rather than quality education. The HS is a Jr Sr HS. Kids enter 7th grade. Overall the WVHS is good quality FOR THE AREA. The teachers care and have a strong supportive community within themselves. There arev teachers who stay too long and should retire. The Chemistry teacher (11th 12th grade and AP) is excellent. The Chorus, Band and Musical programs are good for the area. There are some inspiring History teachers and some good English teachers. The Sports programs are very focused on winning rather than playing, a good 'local' last name helps in a parochial, clique ridden town but outstanding talent is always recognized. A solid education formotivated kids, no more.
Wyalusing is a far superior school when compared with schools outside of Pennsylvania. My children actually learned at Wyalusing. And the teachers cared about the kids, something very hard to come by outside of Bradford County.
I believe that Wyalusing Area School District is well-rounded school, with a homey quality. The small-town community plays an important part in the school district, giving support to the student athletes and academia. However, I do believe that the teacher quality is in need of improvement. For many teachers are long-time members of the school and/or the town of Wyalusing, which I believe affects their teaching. The teachers seem to be more involved in the improvement in the community, than their students' intelligence. I do suppose that the smallness of the town and school affect positively on the students, for many feel at home and comfortable.
