West York Area Middle School

If your child has any disablilties please I encourage you to go else where. They have teachers who are un professional and are not trained in the area's they are teaching! Punishment is given on daily basis rather than dealing with the issues. The communication lacks severly.. Very unhappy with the school distric and lack of care for the students!

This school is great for kids. But the way the principal and the assistant principal run this school is unbelievable.This school is run like a prison.About 10 kids will get detention each day for silly little things.Everywhere students go teachers must follow them.Last year the school was very lenient about the rules, but this year the rules are all about detention.This is one of the biggest concerns about the west york middle school.

This is a great school for kids.They get a great education and great hands on learning programs.If a teacher relizes your child is failing they reccomend a tutor or special class to help your child out.They serve good lunches and yet some snacks and soda.And your child can never get bored they can always join a group or sport/activity.

I would advise everyone to stay away from this school. Especially if you have a troubled child(such as ADHD, depressed etc) Their scores improved from very bad, but, their attitudes will never change. The importance is placed on those students with parents with sizeable incomes. Asking for help nets you one negative assessment of your child after another. Especially if your child has some problems. Rather than work with you or a Dr. they prefer to just hand out detentions. It is easier to punish than deal with it. This school includes 6th grade and they are the worst ones. Many of the 6th graders failed the 2002-2003 school year. That signifies a problem to me.
