I was one of 3 other students who at the time that the school was being built, entered a contest to name the new elementary school being built in East York. I went to Heistand Elementary School in the early 1960's and graduated from York Suburban High School in 1969.

My husband is a Professor, so education is of paramount importance. Have acted as a room Mother with three of my children here. Plenty of great opportunities to be involved, stellar educators, top of the line curriculum, can't say enough positives!

York Suburban school district is one of the best in the region and East York is a big part of why. I have never met a more involved, more understanding or more caring group of teachers or administrators.

You can see from the numbers that academically this school is right on target. I have been pleased with the faculty and I was highly impressed with my sons second grade teacher. Being a room mother I had the chance to see his class on a weekly basis.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing, science and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles.
