What do you do when your child is reluctant to potty train?

Take a break from it completely, you can't force them to do it. They have to be ready for it on their own

I agree you can't force a child to learn something. I tried sooooooo hard with my three year old boy. I tried everything and nothing worked. Then one day he started and never stopped. He just had to be ready on his own time

M&M's worked for us and a schedule....
Set aside a week where you
Figure out a potty schedule. Put your child on the potty and say when you tinkle you get an M&M treat. When you can stay dry all night....then we can by big boy/girl under pants, etc...

you continue to encourage your child to use the potty. Let your child watch you, make it a game and reward your child when it's done.

Be patient. They will do it when they are physically ready!

Put your child in a long shirt with no pants and tell them not to go potty on the floor but if they feel something coming run to the potty and they will go. It takes two weeks and they will be potty trained. It worked with both of my boys.
