Hi! I'm looking for preschool/daycare placements for three kids. One just turned 2 years old and two just turned 3 years old. Everywhere I call in the Columbia Heights area has like a year long waiting list. Any ideas?

Well, I don't know about Columbia Heights specifically, but my daughter went to the excellent preschool at Washington Hebrew Congregation on Mass Ave. We aren't Jewish, but they were happy to take us and we were happy to be there. This was several years ago, so maybe the best kept secret in preschools is out, but I'd definitely suggest checking them out.

Try DC Urban Moms, a listserv for that area (google it). You'll need to join- but the parents on the list are very, very responsive and once you ask, I am sure you'll get many suggestions - finding a preschool is often by word of mouth. Another place you might look is one of the homeschool lists. There are homeschool co-ops that might work for you. Try checking out Yahoo Groups for a homeschool list in your area.
