My son attends blackstone academy, he is a freshman this year. He was in private school for 10 years adn this school far surpasses the other school. He is recognized for his potential and he is a shining star . He made high honors on his first report card and he loves it. Kudos to this school , very happy parent

Have had a child in this school since the day it first opened. All teachers and the principal are young, fresh, caring, enthusiastic. Very small classes, lots of one on one attention. Excellent art and music classes. These teachers really care and it shows. Loosely structured, could be difficult for some students who need a more structured environment. Excellent communication between the school and parents. Parents are involved, building is clean, all ethnic backgrounds. Lots of extracurricular activities. My child went from hating school to loving school. Absolutely highly recommend this school.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Rhode Island used the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in reading and math, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The NECAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Rhode Island. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
