As a parent of a former Hamilton student, Wheeler has embraced the different learning styles of individuals and provides over-the-top support with HASP, Student Fellows and other aids. They are innovative with the use of iPads and other technological tools. As a lower and middle school student, the teachers integrated the Hamilton students with the Wheeler students at lunch and other activities, and all were an integral part of the Wheeler community.
My daughter attend this school and found the female student body to be shallow. The is a focus on material things and who has what. She also had a friend that in eighth grade was told that she would no be able to measure up academically, and was asked to leave. She stayed a has performed well, the administration's top concern is not the student's performance but the impact on SAT scores and destinations matriculation.
An amazing school that truly makes each child successful in their own way. The parents are warm and welcoming and it is a pleasure to watch my children love their education.
This school is worth every penny. The school provided my son a strong foundation for his college experience. Great teachers that care about the student's development and outstanding upper level leadership.
Wheeler is an excellent school that is extremely supportive of bright, independent, creative kids. Compared with other private schools, it has a strong arts program, students that understand one another's differences, and faculty that reward and foster originality. Junior high school is notorious for being a ferocious, competitive, clique-ish place, but Wheeler doesn't fit that negative stereotype. If you're a parent to someone smart, someone artistic, maybe someone that doesn't fit into the usual molds, Wheeler would be a really good fit.
My children received a fantastic education at the Wheeler school. Kudos to Wheeler's teachers! They're the best!!
Wheeler is an amazing school for all kids. They challenge all the children at their levels so if your child needs extra support, they get it and if your child needs to be given enrichment in a subject they get it as well. The teachers are fantastic as is the administration of the school. My experience with the families has been incredibly positive as well. Wheeler truly creates a community to which you all belong.
Wheeler is not a public school, it is a private school just to clarify and its an amazing school that really fits to every kind of student regardless of what they are interested in or the views they support. Wheeler helps students figure out what they are interested in and prepares them for the real world. I don't think I would feel nearly as confident about pursuing acting in college if I had gone to any other school. It really is an incredible place.
My daughter attends Wheeler [she been there for about eight years], and based my experience at Wheeler, it is a descent public school (i.e. it is only what all public schools should be). I will give the teachers credit, they are good Wheeler is going overboard with the diversity thing (being a person of color); however, the 'Wheeler Parents' are a little over the top.
As a Wheeler Parent, I think it is awesome school. My daughter lives to attend Wheeler. The only criticism I have about Wheeler is that they try a little too hard to push the diversity issue instead of allowing diversity to be a natural process. Beyond that cricism, it's an excellent school. My daughter is in the fourth grade and has been at Wheeler since Pre-K. I know all of her teachers, and they know me. Great school for all students, regardless of backgrounds, etc. The leadership is reputable and approachable. Great school!
