We started our child at this school several years ago, and we absolutely loved it. The teachers were spectacular; and the children clearly excelled in this small but challenging academic environment. However, in the spring of 2016, the 5-person board who runs the school (which many of us parents didn't even know existed previously) decided to abruptly demote the director and bring in someone from out of retirement with no Montessori experience. Parents were upset and perplexed, and the board remained uninterested in working with them. Things have continued to get worse. In the past year, the school has lost two of its most talented and beloved teachers who have quit abruptly (one in August and one in November) due to the difficulties of working with this board. The director that they put in even quit abruptly himself when the second teacher left (he literally didn't come back the next day). After all this happened, the board in November 2016 said they would allow a parent to sit in on board meetings, but months later now in March 2017, they now say they don't want to do this. At this point, we have decided to find another school for our child—we simply can't count on the teachers staying. Most of the families are not returning next year. It is sad to watch, but evidently this board is running the school into the ground and none of us can figure out why.

This is a small neighborhood school that is quintessential Montessori: wonderful teachers, caring community, happy children. Everyone should be able to send their children here.
