Year two has been completed. I must say you need to submerge yourself in an environment before you comment on it! That having been said, this year presented itself in a new light with new difficulties. There were multiple instances of bullying within the same grade levels. In most, parents felt the situations were poorly handled and that victims received little to no back up. There were not as many activities open to younger students this year as in the past. The principal would accel at a secondary ed. position where topics are handled in a cut and dry approach and there is little nurturing and compromise needed. Management posesses poor problem solving skills. There is little repoir between the principal and the students. Fortunately, I continue to find the staff to be outstanding. The "special's teachers",are amazing, and are bonded to students equally as well as their primary teachers.
it's a vrey safe school for my kids , has a play ground , has good activities , very good teachers always informe the parents about any concernes
Hoxsie has been an amazing school for our son. The staff has been available to us anytime, and despite the teacher not yet having a contract, the teachers have been dedicated to their students and families. Mr. McKenna retired last year (end of school year '04) to the heavyhearted of those who knew him. A new principal has been hired and seems very excited and dedicated to continuing Hoxsie's good name. She has a great deal of experience with special ed/ special needs. If you are lucky enough to live in Hoxsie's area, consider yourself privileged, and remember to volunteer any time you have to school events, as the teachers seem no closer to a contract and are unable to be a part of after school programs and activities.
Mr. McKenna is an awesome principal. A parent can talk to him about anything. He is a very open and honest guy and the kids love him. How many principals do you know would play 'Mr. McKenna (Simon) Says' when the buses are running late?
