St. Pius X School is a special place. Every child is cared for and individual needs, whether they are academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual are met and exceeded our expectations. We are so blessed to have our children attend this community of love.

I would like to post a comment about St. Pius X School in Westerly, RI. I am the grandmother of two children who have graduated from this wonderful school and one will be Junior in College, while the other is going into her sophomore year in high school. Each received a great education along with a great faith foundation, and have been achieving acadmically right along during their time at St. Pius and after graduation. Many great friendships were made there and a caring, loving atmosphere dominates in the school and sets the stage for life. Along with a solid foundation in the basics is all the extra curricular activities and choices for the study of four languages in addition to English. When parents chose St. Pius X, they are doing well and providing for the best all around education for their children.

St. Pius X School is an extraordinary place where learning is key. My son has attended St. Pius since he was three years old in the pre school program. He is now in the first grade and is thriving. The teachers continually give attention to his needs. I am grateful for the acadmeic, spiritual and social aspects of the entire school. These factors have greatly enhanced his education. I recommend the school highly.

The decision to enroll our daughter in St. Pius X School not only changed her life, it changed ours as well. As easily as her classmates welcomed her into class, parents, teachers, and faculty welcomed us into the community. The academics and spirituality cannot be matched.

I had 2 children go all the way through grade 8 at St. Pius X School! It is a wonderful school whose staff and leadership has gone above and beyond to fulfill it's mission. My kids have been well nourished at St. Pius-- academically, spiritually, and socially! They had fun in St. Pius sports and clubs. I HIGHLY recommend this school!!!

St. Pius X School is such a great community of learning. On a personal level, I have requested prayers from the students and cannot explain the comfort I take in knowing that all of these children are praying for my intention. I am happy with the academics and find the spirituality to be nothing short of amazing

Make St. Pius X School the the first rung on your child's ladder of academic and social success! This school's administrators, faculty, staff and parents provide the students with a setting and culture like something out of a Frank Capra film, while at the same time, creating a successful learning environment and attitude that are modern, progressive and diverse.

My family could not be more satisfied and happy with St. Pius X School. My kids feel happy, safe, and cared for. They are getting an excellent education and they are also learning to be respectful and prayerful.

Our children attended lower elementary here and LOVED it! I cannot say enough good things about the staff, leadership and fellow parents at this school. Parent-to-teacher communication is frequent and the staff truly care about each individual child. It has been great to see the school grow over the years.

St. Pius X School is a school full of love and guidance of the Holy Spirit. If you are looking for a peace-filled environment for your child, St. Pius X is for you. My children have been in St. Pius X for ten years, and my oldest daughter is now in public high school. She is in honors classes and is well ahead of other kids in her ability to use time wisely and study effectively. The academic excellence at St. Pius X is one of the reasons we love it!!! and Mr. Fiore and Fr. Ray are added bonuses!!!! Their leadership is especially important to our family.

The robotics program has been a wonderful activity for our kids. There are so many extra curricular opportunities: basketball, soccer, yearbook, school newspaper, choir Art Club, Fitness Club, Environmental Club, Armata Bianca Prayer Group, Knitting Club, Robotics. What a well rounded school! We could not be happier!

I am so impressed with St. Pius X school in Westerly! My daughter has been there since Preschool and the teachers in the staff are wonderful! Children are given the individualized attention they need to be successful and are given the knowledge of the blessing of our wonderful Catholic Faith! Mr. Fiore, the principal, is a wonderful shepard for our children as well as the one and only Fr. Ray, he is such an inspiration to young children! I love St. Pius X. They truly care about your child and his/her education and it is a very warm and nurturing environment to be in. Your child will learn respect for him/herself and for others and be nurtured morals and caring for others.

This hometown Catholic school is a perfect fit for my family. They continue to improve upon their already excellent programs and continue to add more extra curricular programs. I was very excited to see a new Robotics program recently added and would like my children to benefit from it.

My son graduated from St. Pius last year. I waited until his first year of High School was under his belt to leave a review. He stood on the shoulders of some of the most dedicated teachers and administrators a young person and parents could ever hope for. In every grade he received this year on his way to high honors, I saw the work and caring that went into his St. Pius education. Mr. Fiore is the best principal and the best school administrator I have ever seen in action in all my 53 years. The school embraces it's Catholic identity and lives by it's moto: (paraphrased) Doing their best to be their best with the help of God. The teachers are wonderful and every child is made to feel important and cared for. It is a nuturing envirnment where real learning takes place. Mille grazie, St. Pius!

I was a former member of St Pius school. Before Mr. Fiore took over the ropes at the school, the school's morale was kind of in a downward direction. After Mr. Fiore came in, the school was so much more tighter banded. While I did not like the strictness of some teachers as any teenager wouldnt, I did appreciate the morals and friendship instilled in me from teachers and friends alike. The friends that I have made at St. Pius will last me a lifetime, and even though we attend different schools, we regularly meet up together and hang out like brothers. I couldnt be happier looking back at my time in St Pius.

St. Pius X School provides an excellent education. It is a warm and friendly environment. We were particularly impressed with the open communication with my son's teachers. We also like the fact that prayer is a part of every day life at St Pius. My family could not be more satisfied!

I am one of many parents who absolutely love Saint Pius X School. We love the sense of community. Reading all of these wonderful reviews about the curriculum and religion, I felt it necessary to put my two cents in about the school community being like one big family. I would encourage any potential parent to come and hang out 'by the fence' during dismissal. It is so rare to be at a school where all of the parents are friendly and really care about the school. It is also rare to wait with other parents for our children to be dismissed and NEVER hear a negative word spoken about the school. As a new parent to the school, I was treated in a warm and welcoming manner not only by the school faculty, but also by the other parents. There are no 'cliques'. It is a real Catholic school

I can say that St. Pius X made all the difference when it came to education for my daughter. She graduated this past June with honors and now attends a nationally recognized Catholic High School in RI. We watched her blossom into a confident, caring young lady with passion and interest in world topics that was fueled by the teachings and knowlege she received at St. Pius X. Also, the Golden Rule is paramount at the school and is practiced in all aspects of the curriculum. My younger daughter is in fourth grade at St. Pius X and looks forward to the same bright horizon her sister enjoyed. It truly is a unique academic and social experience which leaves a beautiful impression on the students, and therefore on our future.

I love the God-centered values at St. Pius--both those exemplified by the teachers and those expected from the students. Bullying isn't tolerated, so kids flourish. The academics are excellent, too. My kids have learned a great deal and are performing wonderfully on standardized tests. (Proof-positive that academic achievement doesn't depend on union-inflated teacher salaries.)

As a parent I am overwhelmingly satisfied with the education my 3 children are receiving at St. Pius X school. They have all grown academically, socially, and spiritually. The dedication and commitment to a complete education that the faculty provides is unique and should be commended. My children previously attended a different Catholic school and the strong religious foundation, sense of community, as well as their being challenged academically is far superior at St. Pius X School. My family is blessed to be a part of the St. Pius X community.

As a parent I am thrilled with the education and values my child is learning. My son was previously attending a public school where his needs were not being met. At St. Pius X, he is confident and his grades have improved in all subjects. Learning about God and promoting the Catholic faith has given my son a greater understanding of the love of God and how we are to live our lives. I love this school and recommend anyone that wants the best eduacation for their child to send them here.

St. Pius X School is not just a school, it is a family. We are blessed to have all three of our children at St. Pius where they not only receive an incredible academic education but also a moral and spiritual education as well. The students at St. Pius are taught dignity, self-respect, accountability, and responsibility. They are taught these things by some of the most incredible people I have ever had the priviledge to meet. The teachers at St. Pius are there because they have a true calling to educate the hearts, minds, and souls of our children...not because they want a sizeable bank account. The fact that these teachers are willing to make the financial sacrifices that they do is a sign of their real devotion.

My kids absolutely love St. Pius school and we are very happy with it. As a public school teacher myself, I am more than content with the quality of education my children receive there. The teachers are caring and the atmosphere is warm, fun and the students have a high work ethic. The principal is always available and respectful of our needs. I also love the fact that my children are discplined in a way that incorporates our faith - learning to be tolerant of others and being taught why it is important to be good to one another. I wish I could employ the same disciplinary reasoning with my students in public school. We only have one chance to educate our children in life and I am glad they are part of the St. Pius family.

To the parent who implied that because the pay is substantially lower than public schools, you are not going to get the best education, suggests that the faculty and staff of the school is imcompetent, which is not true. They are no less educated than those teachers in public school, and are more dedicated and devoted to the needs of the children than those in public school. Members of both surrounding public school districts will atest to the fact that St. Pius's curriculum far exceeds the public school's grade for grade. Were you sure your friend's son was in the same grade? Everyone has the right to choose was it best for their children's education, but to imply that the faculty and staff are imcompetent because their pay scale does not compare to the public school's is insulting and unfair to these teachers.

In a school where the pay is substantially lower than public schools, you are not going to get the best education. I pulled my child from the school when I compared his work to a friend's son, in the same grade in public school.

My two children attend St. Pius and we all love it! Academically, the school offers small class sizes--you won't find that at a public school. The small class sizes allow teachers to provide individual attention and to get to know each student; that, in turn, helps each student to excel. Academic excellence is important at this school--we all enjoy the fluffy extra-curricular stuff, but students need to master the basics first. Most importantly, St. Pius provides a Catholic moral and spiritual environment--bullies aren't tolerated, and God can actually be mentioned in school! St. Pius School shares my values and I can trust them to avoid political propaganda and social engineering.

two of my children attend st.pius. One started in k the other is 2nd. I can't say enough great things about the school. The extra help my children have received can not be better. Mr. Fiore the new principle has turned the school towards the future. When you walk through the halls all the children and staff seem very happy. My children look forward to school, who could ask for more!!!!!!!!!

With 2 children at St. Pius, I'm very happy with their experiences & education. Both kids have mild disabilities and have received extra help, tutoring, and attention when needed. Sometimes, the school has notified me of the need and the available extra services when I was unaware of the child's situation (not learning to read as well as other kids in 1st grade). My child needed to carry a notepad to kindergarten everyday with my questions/issues/etc. The teacher ALWAYS replied on the same day. I also received phone calls when the teacher felt the need. I too was sad about Mrs. Brockman's departure. The school & diocese treated her very shabbily- considering the years Mrs. B devoted to the school. After 1 year, I am now a big fan of the new principal, Mr. Fiore. He's infusing new ideas, methods, and improving the school. StP is a great place for kids.

My daughter attended Pius for 9 years. I had her tested by Sylvan learning center upon graduation she was on a third grade reading level. Proper help is not available to child when difficulties arise in learning. There are several wonderful and lovely teachers in very early grades. There are also several teachers that are so antiquated in their teaching styles, and child development skills, that in all likelihood, the only reason they are teaching at all, is because Pius is the only school that would hire them. As for the devout catholic principal Mrs. Harwood. I have found her to be unreasonable. Over the years she was blatantly judgmental toward non traditional family's.

I have 2 children in St. Pius X. The principal Ms. Brockman is a core value that keeps the school on track in a very personnal way. However, the Dioceses decided to get involved because higher tuitions have not brought in more students. As usual they accept no responsiblity for the decline. So thier greatest asset, the princple, must be replaced. Typically the Catholic Church has selected a man to replace this irreplaceable woman. No offence to the incoming Principle but the problem, as usual, is being solved by those least familiar with the problem. Or prehaps I should say those who accept the least responsiblity for the problem. With a new addition planned and opportunity to lower tuition and accomadate more students. Now is not the time to make this change. Give the Ms. Brockman better tools to work with and I am certain she could use it to great affect.

I graduated from St. Pius almost a year ago, I met some really great people and was able to build a stable foundation for high school. I really built a strong relationship with a number of my teachers at St. Pius, I was there since the first grade. Seeing as how the school is so small, you really get to know the teachers and other students at the school. There weren't many extra curricular activities. All that were available were soccer, basketball, and choir. Unfortunately, soccer and basketball were only available if a parent offered their time to be a coach.
