My child is finishing 7th grade at Baker. I would rate these 2 years at Baker with 5 Stars. Prior to entering Baker, we appealed the 5th grade teacher's recomm. for 6th grade: on grade level. We were thrilled the Baker staff approved our request. For the past 2 yrs. our child has received straight A's in the GT level classes. We are grateful our child has dedicated teachers that know how to engage, motivate and make learning fun. young impressionable minds.

My daughter has enjoyed going to this for two years, in which she has grown into a young lady. The teachers are the most friend people, always willing to help. I applaud Baker MS for all it has done and all it will do.
The educational opportunities at John T. Baker Middle School are minimal at best. Most children are instructed below-grade level and teachers are not provided with necessary teaching tools. Discipline and structure are lax. There are no good teachers here and instuction is poor. Children who leave to attend public education find themselves well below level and many are retained or put in remedial courses. Teacher morale is low because of really low pay and lack of any positive feedback from the administration. Priorities are not uniform and too much time is spent off task in all classrooms. For the at-risk child that needs nuturing, there are not caretakers at this school that really give any concern. There is constant bullying and harassing continuely going on throughout the day. No administrator cares nor pays any attention to those who get bullied. This school is not a safe place for any child.
