South Albany High School is, despite the its aforementioned negative stigma, an excellent school. We believe in PRIDE - Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence. And, we show PRIDE and tons of spirit at sporting events, even if we lose. Our teachers are encouraging, helpful, and caring. They will never give up on a struggling student, and will never turn down a student in need. Our teachers are not just hired for their experience and ability, but for their great personalities. Trust me, we have some of the coolest teachers around! The teachers aren't the only staff in this school who are dedicated to their students. The principal, councilors, office personnel, and even our renowned 'Ninja Janitor' are always there to offer support. SAHS also provides a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs. Such as, spanish/german, band/choir, political awareness, Robotics, water polo, speech&debate, dance, cheerleading, etc.

I love South Albany. It gives me plenty of choices as electives and all of the teachers are extremely careing. I can't believe what some of these people are saying about Mr. EQ (the principal). He has been to every band concert this year and supports us as much as he can. I don't like the students as much as the rest of the school, but leadership and all of the staff are trying hard to make every student enjoy their experience and be respectful to everyone. I'm going to miss this school when I go.

I am a student at SAHS and I can say it is the best school. Everyone is appected without rejects. Alot of people say its a terrible school in sports and eduation and that WAHS is better, but really it isnt. Yes we lose alot of our games and WAHS wins but we keep trying and no matter what we always get attention for people who care. We are the school that has tons of spirit and never gives up! SAHS is an amazing school!!! The best out there.

I am an Alum of SAHS & can honestly say that this school is much more successful than everyone says. From my experiences throughout the city of Albany, there is a stigma of SA being the 'second best' school, not only in sports, but in the whole educational experience. I have found out, now being out of HS for a couple of years, how caring & relational the staff & admin truly are. Still, to this day, whenever I see a staff member they always come up & ask me how I am doing. It's amazing to me that they remember me & care enough about me to see how my life is going. It makes me very sad to see how the city of Albany has allowed this great school to be labeled in such a negative light. I hope my kids get to experience that.
