My children moved from Jowell to Duryea and the first year I was far more satisfied than I had been for the 3 years at Jowell combined. The teachers are very personable and take time to communicate with notes or calls. The nurse calls just to say if your child is not ill but came in, the principal is VERY involved and willing to address any issues that may occur. The school participates in various fundraising activities and the money is used towards purchases that are visible and needed. The school is clean and has a great system of security. I love Duryea and think it will continue to flourish in the next few years.

My 2 children attended Duryea for 2 years until they were rezoned. I really like Mrs Harbin, the principle because she is one of the most caring and involved principles I have met. You can always count on her to show up in any events even during chuck e cheese or skate night. She cares about her students in every way. The PTO also did a great job in fundraising. Just within a year, we got a shade for the playground. I disagreed on the other parents about the school not hving much extracurriculum. The problem this school has is overcrowding, having 1600 students!! I would understand it would be hard to actually accomodate everyone in any extracurriculum not to mention normal activities. Let's be more understanding and patient. It will be a great school under Mrs Harbin leadership. We were so sad we had to leave Duryea.

I love this school. The staff are very organized and helpful. I especially love the teachers. I feel that they need more activities at this school. There are lots of parents that are involved. I am one of them. Whenever I can, I volunteer.

The Pre-K program is wonderful. It is a school that cares about the students. As soon as an overcrowding issue was identified they did not hesitate to create another class. In addition, they push the kids to excel.
