Their staff is including the parents in the education of the children. They are fully understanding and work with the parents to help better the students.

For all the Staff at HSES. Thank You. You have all helped my child rise academically while helping her keep a positive attitude about school. I will be forever gratefull for the afterschool program and I hope that many other children will benifit from it the way mine did for years to come. I know many of you have made a lasting impression on my child and have helped her to realize a few of lifes greatest lessons. She knows know how important it is to set goals and work hard. She values the importance of helping others and she has a true hunger to learn. Keep up the excellent work and please don't ever forget that you do and can make a differance.

I disagree about the staff not being friendly and 'oppressive'. I think Hunter Street is an AWESOME school. My daughter is in 1st grade and reads on a 3rd grade level. Parents tend to think schools are solely responsible for their kid's educational growth. We play a BIG part in our children's education. I work with my 2 girls for about 2 hrs. each night on homework and reading. We have been in school this year for a little over 9 weeks and my daughter just logged 225 books in her reading log. Her teacher is VERY supportive as is the principal. There are alot of activities after hours at the school. We go to them all and I am always disappointed in the small number of parents that show up. Especially dads. You have to get involved.

Hunter Street is a wonderful school. The administration is very knowledgable and always helpful. There is an open door policy allowing parents to volunteer and visit the school whenever it is convenient for the parent. The teaching staff is very qualitfied and always available for parent questions or concerns. The LD services are excellent as are the quality of the related arts availble at the school. This school is also the only one in York Couty offering Montessori Classes for 3, 4 , and 5 year olds in a public school environment.
