This is my oldest daughters school and we love it. The teachers have been great and really know how to help out the kids when they need it. They have been recognized as an exemplary school for their TAKS scores as well.

My daughter started attending Hughes since we relocated in Spring of 2006. The school seems to be run more like a child prison than a school. I have talked with many parents in regards to the poor leadership at this school and have the same feed back. My child is in mostly AP classes with excellent grades. I can't imagine how difficult it would be for parents with children who are struggling. I feel Hughes works AGAINST parents and not with parents. Too many problems too list. Fortunately, the principal will be retiring after this year and the parents and staff are anxiously awaiting. There is hope for Hughes!

I really do think the teachers and staff care about our children. My child just started ad Hughes las December after having relocated from california and he had a few problems adjusting tothe pre-ap classes, all three of his teacher communicated w/me by e-mail and phone and together we brought him back to straight A's by the years end. After seeing yesterdays turn out it's obvious that this community also cares enough to be involved and together we make our children's learning experience a great one! Thanks Hughes Middle School

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
